Playing youth team and first team are completely different. A player may excel at junior level to the extent that he's worth a deal, but stepping into mens football is a different games. So in terms of first team football they are an unknown quantity. I was also eluding to youth teamers who are not on a pro deal as yet, the likes of Bemrose who has been on the bench once or twice.

If they are an unknown quantity what is the point of giving them a contract. They are given contracts because it's thought they will be able to make it in "men's football"
