err Welling are third in the BSS, Sutton are 14th, think they have the easier tie, also Luton at home to a team 3 divisions below is the best draw.

Good draw, gives us a decent chance of progressing. Contrary to some opinions this is not a excrement tournament. There's decent prize money on offer in each round and we could get a trip to Wembley out of it.

Looks like a pretty tough draw - flying high in the BSS and a home record of won 6, drawn 3, lost 0 this season.

Does anyone know when the Nuneaton fixture we were originally meant to play on January 12th has been rescheduled for? Or is it still to be decided?

not that bad to be fair! My only problem with It is we don't have a big squad and with injuries etc our first victim being colbeck. Although to be fair Scott said the other day that they are going to add a few to the squad in Jan if we are still in the cup.

Only 10 miles away so worth a trip Been waiting for an away draw in this for a while. £92,000 in prize money for progressing and winning the tournament, and a cheeky Wembley trip too. Certainly won't hurt us to go for this, and we've probably got depth in the squad that it shouldn't affect our league effort too much. We should be able to knock out these small southern teams with the reserves.

This game may not be confirmed yet to be played on the Saturday as a team called Erith FC groundshare with them, and they are at home. Welling were due to be away at Bath City.

The people who complain about this trophy are the same people who no doubt complained about the JPT but are happy to jump on the band wagon and buy tickets for the semi-final and final. They no doubt take the place of people who have been to several games during the season but when it comes to buying tickets for the semi, for example, are unable to travel to GY to queue and so miss out.
It's pathetic, a trophy is a trophy and we are not a club with such an illustriously decorated trophy cabinet that we can be turning up our noses at one.
We have proved ourselves in 97/98 that you can fight on several fronts (remember, we had decent FA and League Cup runs that season too) and York City proved it in the Conference last season. Not to mention, countless top flight teams etc etc (yes, they have humongous squads but that's not the point).
If you don't want to go to the FAT games, fine, but don't bore us with it on here before and after every single round. I'm happy we've progressed - it breeds a winning mentality after 10 years of a losing one, we get our share of the prize fund, it's a potential trip to Wembley and I love it when the Town win 4-0 no matter who it's against!

Whilst I agree with most of your points i doubt any Town fans have missed a final because they couldn't get tickets, I don't think we have sold out any of our allocations for the finals we have been in.

Just a bit of extra info. According to a fella on their forum, Welling have won 12 games on the trot so it will not be a stroll in the park. Also, re the game maybe not being on the Saturday as they groundshare with Erith who are due to play at home that day, Welling are the main leaseholders so our game will take priority on the day

Hmm, but York came good late on while Luton I see as falling away. There's also the incredible pressure that Luton fans put on their team for success. A trip to Wembley would please the fans, and is doable (Luton are good in shorts bursts) and would be some success for the season, but at the expense of a good League run in I would guess.

True though innit, our reserves our still mostly full time professionals who can step into our first team when needed and should be capable of beating part time opposition. We've got players like Miller (for example) sat on the bench when he could be playing in the league.

Hence why I said the semi-final (which happened to us in 97/98 as we're Skegness based and my dad couldn't get over to buy tickets due to work yet we went to 75% of home fixtures that season.) We followed it on teletext. How times have changed.

That's fair enough then but I'm sure there are plenty who fall into the category I outlined. Besides, the main point was a Trophy is a trophy, money is money and a win is a win. If all that is coming GTFC's way, who are we to complain?

Think I might go to this one, only 40 mins away. The ground looks like it could be the most tinpot I've ever visited.

Well said PM. When we went to Wembley in the Jpt i went to every single match and saw some great games, the semi at Edgeley Park being a classic awayday and a great atmosphere. I have not been to an away day this season due to family health issues, but i an hoping to get to Welling in the NY. I don't see this as g " excrement cup" but another opportunity on the road to recovery. See you at Welling - UTM!

Its not special. Felt like i was sitting at Cardiff or many other modern stadia. The experience for me was not there, the old Wembley had a certain majesty about it, big open stadium flooded with natural light. The new one a cold, concrete and steel fairly enclosed stadium. Yes facilities were good but as i made my way through the concourse into the arena i just felt......oh...........no tingle, no hairs on the back of the neck standing up......just did nothing for me.

Yeah tbf I only looked at it on google earth, and it looks like a bit of grass with 2 bus stops, a bike rack and a shed for stands. Doesn't look so bad on your pics.

Not even seeing the picture of Clive mendonca???? For me though, Cardiff has it right. Directly in the centre of town, next to the train station and pubs facilities for all fans. Many a good day out had in the welsh capital after visiting the millennium.
