i think the idea has merit. there are a lot of ex league clubs in this league and many could compete at league level imo. though potentially more relegation could increase the number of ex league clubs. i think the gulf between league 2 and conference is a lot closer than leagues 1 and 2.
last year there was a thread on this forum about merging league 2 and the conference into a split north and south league ie league 2 north and south.
i think that idea made a lot of sense. Whether the Football League would want to increase its membership by 20 odd clubs is doubtful though

Anything has to be considered , the one up and one via the play off's is far tougher the in the league . Two and one via the play off's sounds to me to have merit .
You could then say that ,your home crowd must be over a certain number to be sure of a cash flow . Teams in the lower leagues just can't be bank rolled by sugar daddys for life .It'll be interesting to see how Crawley and Fleetwood are in a year or two's time when the interest has fallen and these fans go back to support their original team .

There are obviously positives and negatives and it gives all the clubs in the bsp an extra incentive to go up but not necessarily the bigger clubs. Smaller teams may be able to attract a sugar daddy chairman hoping to gain promotion at the first attempt, which could go pete tong. Anyway I'm all for an additional place if it means we get to go up whether it be automatically or via the playoffs.

I think it would be a good idea,
We have moved on since clubs could finish bottom of Div 4 but still get re-elected,
Then only one up and down, to the present 2 up and down,
So going to 3 up and 3 down sounds right to me when you look at the other leagues,

It's between professional leagues though. There are two many teams that coe up to the Conference that don't have the fan base to sustain league football and it's a massive blow to those who go down. Just look how many ex-league clubs are in dire finanacial straits - us, Lincoln, Stockport, Wrexham, Macc, Hereford etc. If you add another place it will only increase the problem. We have to think of the financial well being in football as a whole.

Well one way of sorting that is having some form of contractual method of being able to release players if your team is relegated without costing the club a penny. I know Macclesfield released all there players once they got relegated not sure how much that cost them but if a club is relegated the manager and team have not performed so surely based in performance you can get rid.

That sounds a good idea meza, It should be put in force for all clubs in all leagues.

Can't use fan base an escuse of why clubs shouldn't be relegated. If a club is relegated that's because they have had a very shite season, and their own faults. It's a COMPETITION, so it be ran like one with no exceptions. 3 up and 3 down seems standard for the other football national leagues (Leagues 1 and 2 for example). As for, to and from north/south devided league it should be (like it is), 4 down and 4 up (2 go north, 2 go south).

Im all for 3 up 3down. But not the 400,000 payment. if clubs cant adjust their finances when relagated then thats unlucky. Not fair on clubs who live within there means each season like barrow southport ect. We would love to get given 400,000.

I think it's a good idea and not just for our benefit. Once automatic relegation from League 2 was introduced then more of the teams in the BSP became full-time clubs and it's increasing every season. It has now become a distinct possibility for teams to rise through the lower tiers and gain admission to the Football League. It makes the Football League more dynamic and relegation out of League 2 won't become the virtual automatic financial killing of a football club it once was. It will also bring the Football League back up to the 92 clubs that it was prior to the formation of The Premiersh*t. The non-league scene is slowly getting more support and IMO this is due to the greed and dissatisfaction with The Premiersh*t. Anything that engages more interest in grass roots football must be a good thing. It inevitably will be the survival of the fittest but at least give the towns with teams not in the FL a reallistic chance to progress up the leagues.
