A deserved 3 points against a limited Tamworth side. I sometimes wish we would really go for it away from home but i guess that is churlish seeing we have lost only one away game in over a year
McKeown only had one save to make when Miller back headed one from a few yards.
Miller and Pond were on top form, Disley and both full back were decent but i thought Cook made a difference in place of the totally ineffective Elding. He bundled in the goal from a few yards. It DID cross the line, and he got involved. held it up and the goal clearly gave him a lift. Pond headed in a fine goal but was given offside. The red card? Looked late and a lunge but the number 11 was also lucky to only get a yellow for a discraceful foul of Colbeck.
Marshall improved as the game went on but he struggled to do anything in the first half.
Hopefully McKeown isnt badly injured. In the last 15mins or so he pulled up badly after hitting a long clearance
Good to see Shaun Pearson and Greg Fleming stood with the Town fans.

If McKeown is out, then this year, we have an excellent deputy in Fleming, surely ??

Amazing how people see a different game. Cook scored with his knee fair enough and I suppose it was good that he was in the right place. I watched him for most of the time he was on and thought how bad he was, hardly winning a header, couldn't hold the ball up and generally looked clumsy. Guess if we brought Dave Moore on for the increasingly unpopular Elding it would have been the right choice in Town Fans eyes. We have to have a scapegoat and judging by the 'little band of comedy morons' behind the goal today the choice was made at the start of the game.

Like you say we saw the game differently. Cook bundled the ball home off his thigh but after that i thought he was strong, won more in the air than Elding had done and brought others into the game. He certainly looks more like a farmer than a footballer, but in my eyes at least he played a big part in our win.

I fail to see and understand the negatives about cook after today's game. That's two games I can think of where he has influenced it for the better.
Not sure about the red card, another day you'd only get a yellow although the cynical challenge on colbeck was disgraceful. We once again away from home never looked like losing. We showed great bouncebackability again and who knows, this time next week we could be sat top of the pile.
It wasn't a great game today but last season and before I think we'd have failed to win the game. It's a results based business and that is what we got.

No one seems to have remembered Tamworth missing 2 sitters in the 1st half, free header from 5 yards well wide and Till (boy did I laugh failing to connec with another one) Very even game I thought but our passing was woeful at times, and we really lacked any creativity near the penalty box. I will always settle for 3 points no matter how we play but based on the games I have attended this season we are nowhere near a championship winning team yet and best we can hope for is the playoffs

The sitter you refer to with a free header was a great cross which the Tamworth player ran on to, jumped, and failed to get any meaningful connection to. Had he done so and directe dit wide or over I would have called it a great chance, the fact he hardly made contact make sit a half chance in my book.
You could refer to Disleys header from point blank range that was blocked (possibly by Elding's(?) back) or Marshall refusing to pull the trigger when having a clear shooting opportunity inside the penalty box or Colbecks late effort theatricaly saved by their keeper/
I dont understand your weekly negativity, i really dont

I thought Marshall tried too hard in the first half taking one touch too many and playing in front of Bradley didn't work, they were too far apart. Second half he played on the left in front of Thomas and they gelled better, Marshall showed some neat footwork and was sythed down a few times, always bouncing up and not complaining. The sending off was a little harsh, happened ten yards from me (I was in row B): their central defender lunged in and was late, Marshall saw it coming and managed to get his feet off the ground and still got caught, had be he been back on his heels some serious damage could have been done. No mallice in the tackle, just off the ground and slightly late.
The game was close with us being the better side for most of the game. What worries me is our tactics during the latter half of the second halves: Tamworth were down to ten men, then another one of their lads hurt himself and because they'd used all three subs he hobbled around for the last 15 minutes. They therefore had 8 outfield players yet we still sat back and conceeded ground to them. It's great that our defence is so tight but this sort of 'inviting' teams to attack us will not work every week. yes, I know we haven't lost away this season, but we certainly make it hard for ourselves.
Elding was fine and caused all sorts of problems for their defence and I thought he did fine: Cook just doesn't look like a footballer and isn't as mobile, but I'm not a manager and don't know what goes on in training etc, etc.

I'd settle for Champions of the Blue Square Premier this season and leave the Championship for the future. The fact remains that we are third and no team in this league looks like they are going to run away with it. As a point of interest , who of the teams that you have seen this season look like they are going to be Champions ?

Obviously wasn't here but sounds like good analysis IMO so +1

I think that is a good point. Luton were packed with quality but they set up all wrong against us and took a fair beating Wrexham, looked a bit toothless against us and have been heavily beaten at home by Lincoln and Alfreton Newport? i didnt see our game at their place but they seem to have abit of consistency about them. In truth there simply isnt a team that others will fear. All to play for and we have as good a chance as the others imo
