Talk about stability when you have someone like abramovich you don't stand a chance didn't ranieri do well and still got sacked for coming 2nd he's a tool.  Still I thought it was a big risk appointing someone like AVB not sure who's available

So much for their long term plan. Abromovich think his money gives him the divine right to win trophies, ah well AVB is a few quid richer for 6 months work!

Di Matteo in temporary charge.

The player power at Chelsea is killing them. Abramovich is showing himself to be a terrible owner by letting it happen.

For anyone who can be bothered to read an article I wrote a couple of weeks ago the link is below. Quite a few people seem to now be uttering similar thoughts.

http://soccerlens.com/why-chelsea-need-to-end-reign-of-player-power/87879/

Apologies if its a bit too long.

AVB had more to offer Chelsea in the long run than the older players did, they should just accept they are in the twilight of their careers and no longer have a divine right to play every week because frankly they've been garbage most of the season.

Cech, terry, drogba n lampard need to be sold in the summer or it will just happen again and again. I can see Abromovich getting bored of his toy n pulling out. Which would be funny. As intercourse.

Ah, yet another manager who couldn't wave a magic wand and fill the Stammy Bridge trophy cabinet in his first season. I hope, as mentioned above, Abramovic gets bored and they then do a Leeds.

At least 70% of the current Chelski squad are mediocre. There are better players in struggling teams than the likes of Mikel, Kalou , Luiz n Drogba! Quite ironic that one of the better left wingers in the Prem is Sinclair, whom Chelsea sold for next to nowt!

Talk of the Go Compare man coming in for a go at the job, although he didn't exactly set the world alight at Liverpool. The likes of Lampard, Terry, Cech, Drogba, Maluda and Essien are not up to it any more, with players like Boswinga, Mikel and Ramires aren't good enough. He was always going to be facing a losing battle with the club in the transition period it currently finds itself in.

I do hope Roberto does well though, as he seems a decent bloke.

david luiz and jose bosingwa among with mata and mikel and ramires are overrated and they have got an old squad who arnt getting any younger and since stephen hunt smashed into cechs head he looks nervous now and having roberto di matteo in charge is a mistake. they need to get young players in but they have done that with lukaku and romeou however you spell it. they arr stuffed and past it

Agree with that (although I think Ramires is decent) - whoever the manager is can't win. Play the 'established' players and you'll be sacked for not winning anything. Don't play them and you'll be sacked for annoying them.

Di Matteo might get a bit more out of them I suppose, he should meet their 'approval' due to his Chelsea connections.

Of course this wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't sacked the manager that took them to the double in his first season. The season in which they scored over 100 league goals. That one.

Normally I would run a mile from a Chelsea article but that was so well written and presented it was a joy to read.

I think you're right - the old guard may need replacing.
Scholes and Giggs may be still going strong for Man Utd but personally, I think Drogba, Lampard and Terry could be past their best now.

Even if Scholes and Giggs are doing well for Man Utd bringing them back out of retirement is a step back for English football. As was Arsenal and Villa bringing back Henry and Keane. Imagine you're a young player in one of these sides looking for a break?

I'm not sure about that, Wenger is never afraid to throw one of his 18-year-old Francophone kids into action. Bringing back Henry was probably more to do with shirt sales or providing a bit of leadership and experience as they already had RVP knocking them in every week.

It would have been different for the last few Chelsea managers if Torres hadn't left his scoring boots at Anfield. If he was banging them in like he was for Liverpool they would be right up there.

8 managars in 9 years? It's now decended into farce.

That's irrelevant really and Wenger has probably only ever 'thrown in' Wilshere and he went ou on loan to Bolton first. Everybody else get an eternity in the ressies and League Cup before Wenger 'throws them in'. Rooney, Milner and Owen were thrown in. Bringing him back is a step back for me. I find it hard to believe Manchester United don't have a centre midfielder of Premiership quality and Arsenal a striker when you consider the size of their squads.

But they're not after just "Premiership quality" are they? They want players who are the best in the league in order to try and win it.

True but you don't get experience to become one of those players whilst lurking behind the scenes. Let's face it, Henry's return didn't see a massive upturn in fortunes - they got tonked in Milan for his last game. I just find it a little short sighted from Wenger - a self professed promoter - of youth to bring back someone who chose the alleged semi retirement of MLS football in favour of staying in Europe. For English football, it's a step back for me - we have lots of promising young players that are crying out for opportunities like this and it gets thrown back at them by people coming back from retirement because they are bored and regret the choice they had previously made.

Fabregas was thrown in too.

The way I see it, Giggs and Scholes are still top quality players and Ferguson obviously thinks they're his best options. And he should know!

Young players should thrive on training with these 2 and Henry as well.
