Podge was offered an 18 month extension in the middle of the season he played for us which at the time went against the policy of only discussing deals in the closed season. He chose not to sign as he wanted to wait and see if we got up or not, players can't have it both ways.

My thoughts exactly Podge had the chance to be here for longer but he chose to wait just in case we did not go up.

He made a bad decision imo and he will have to live with it.

I do agree he could score 20 goals in a good team but a good team will probably not need him.

It does not matter what we think of him its up to the managers that are looking for a striker,

Most of them might think he could do it in non league but will not be prepared to pay money to get him in the league.

Nobody knows the terms of that extension offer- it could quite easily have been derisory knowing certain penny pinching tendencies. Just look at how the club (Hurst) decimated the team at the end of a promotion season, some loyalty there!!. Goals win games and proven goal scorers are at a premium so if the chance does come along to re-sign Amond then any petty grudges need to be put aside, after all the same applies to Slade.

Regarding Hearn, he was at his goal scoring best when he had Elding as a partner ,another player that left because of the way the club (Hurst) handled his situation badly.

Bogle left mid season despite Bignot stating he would stay - some loyalty.

Supporters tend to hold certain players with reverence but as a footballing career is short all players tend to go for the best they can get at the time as they are no different to the rest of us with a family and mortgage to support. Loyalty does little to pay the bills unfortunately.

From Bignot or Bogle? Unfortunately, loyalty wouldn't really come into it where Omar was concerned. Football's a short career and he'll probably be on about 3 times the money he was on here. You could hardly turn that down, or stand in the players way to play at a higher level could you.

The only loyalty in football is with the hard core fans,

Players,  like others have said need to make as much money as they can in a short career ,

Fair weather fans come and go like some club officials,

We have a non chairman that is a hard core fan and we have about 4,000 hard core supporters,

Anybody else are either with us for the fame or the money,

BUT

As long as the players give 100% while they are here with us that is all we can ask,

Podge gave that and I was thankful for it, sometimes players and clubs make bad decisions,

I think both Podge would admit he made one and the club has made many over the years,

BUT

No one is perfect.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat. 14 goals for a struggling team speaks volumes

I'm with you.  He could combine with Vernon or (preferably) Assante quite easily, I reckon.  Get him back.

Amond? Really? He only scored 14 goals for Hartlepool. To put that in context Sam Jones scored 7 in 16 for us after he signed.

Slade has been open in that he wants to add some pace & physicality into his striker options. Neither of those are strengths of Amond.

People need to stop living in the past. We had the Amond love in last summer when Hurst obviously wasn't fussed to lose him. And Hurst was proved right.

Sam Jones is, and will go on to be, a ridiculously good player IMO, however, he isn't naturally a striker!

Sam Jones is the sort of player who needs to play just off the striker, with an unselfish, clever striker who'll hold up and win the ball in the air for him. Revell would be the perfect foil IMO

I've wasted my life in black and white, a pathetic act for a worthless cause
