With Frankie Artus almost certainly ruled out of Saturday's game, and both KHM and Soares cup tied, the question arises of who to put in his place? As far as I can see there are 3 main options!

Option 1 - Straight swap with Makofo

Option 2 - Put Bradley Wood in at left back and push Townsend up (IMO he has the pace, skill and crossing ability to do a good job)

Option 3 - Put Coulson left midfield and Bradley Wood right midfield (I'm sure he's played in that role previously)

Now I'm not usually one for putting square pegs in round holes and I don't think a change of formation would be beneficial, so the sensible option would be option A. I do however doubt Mafofo's ability to track back and support Townsend, which he would definitely need to do against an in form Matty Blair! Would he also be match fit having not played in a couple if months? I suppose the same could be said for Wood though!

Still torn but I think I'm leaning toward option 3 with Coulson providing support for Townsend!

UTMM!

I've never thought Serge was any good so I'd pick option B

I'd go with Makofo but I'd be tempted to play him on the right and Coulson on the left to help out Townsend. The other options involve playing at least a couple of players out of position. Don't think it'd be fair on Wood after so long out to chuck him in at left back against an in-form Blair.

Another option would be to stick church in from the start, personally I would put brad in left mid he can do a job anywhere on the pitch. Only problem would be a lack of defensive cover on the bench.

Makofo definitely, if he's fit.

Though hardly brilliant, he's a hard-worker and has caused a number of problems for opposition teams this season with his pace and strength. In fact, I'd say that this season he has tracked back well when in the team. Looking at the stats, in the three games Makofo has started playing in front of Townsend, he has scored 4 goals!

The idea of moving a full-back out of position into midfield when you have a wide player available is a poor one. Our consistency in recent months has come from having specialist players in their preferred positions. This needs to continue.

You do realise that wide left midfield is not frankies natural position. Plus makofo has not played a game for ages it would be suicide chucking him in to play ninety minutes.
