Town stay up
What do you need to see from DA to believe right coach to take us forward?
Or is it soon for this question. My view is that it influences decision taken by JS now.

I think it’s the plan. And, yes, it’s probably too soon.

I’ve seen enough from him to show he’s not the right person for our club. He needs to go, whether we scrape survival or go down.

I’m really not giving next season too much consideration at this point. I was thinking earlier today that if we do survive another relegation, I’m having no interest in football for at least 2 months. I need a complete break , euros included in that .

As a fan my view is the right now, we’re in a scrap and need to win it desperately. Too much next season thinking has got us into this mess imo.

Absolutely. My comment above is what the owners seem to be hoping. For me, it’s an altogether too familiar situation. Never mind incremental improvements, just another 11th position in League Two would have done - hindsight eh?

He won’t be here and he shouldn’t be. We might survive and we might not. I’d consider L2 next season once I knew we were in it. Right now, our EFL status hangs by a thread YET AGAIN….and David Artell needs to be removed from the picture asap. He won’t help us stay up and he shouldn’t be managing us for any longer than is absolutely necessary. I’m unhappy that the owners haven’t seen this and are evidently willing to persevere, but I know a dead relationship when I see it (trust me), and I’m looking at one. Restart asap needed.

I'd be happy to bet that if we do stay up, DA will not be the manager overseeing it. I'm not going to but I just can't see a way he keeps us up.

If he is not her here next season then why here now?
It suggests DA is needed to stay up.
Today's decision impacts next season either way.

But it’s the same old same old. Who comes in or do we just throw the gauntlet to SP and BD in the hope that they find some form ?? It can’t get any worse that’s for sure, well, hopefully it can’t.

I don’t really care anymore the quarter of a century of dross on and off the pitch has beaten any enthusiasm i had. At least if we go down which i think we will it should a bit more entertaining in the conference.

How are you defining 'good manager'? I'd say a good manager is one that can take on a team, get the best out of them and pick up points. Which he hasn't done at all.

Unfortunately, Lawrie McMenemy isn't available and his types are few and far between. If Artell had some players who were available to play his system, came during 1st week of close season with an influx of those players, plus a budget to swap players who don't fit then he would be ok. Unfortunately, he has failed, in my opinion in the transfer window. When he came he failed to realise the state the playing staff was in, in regard as to how they play. He has recognised the lack of bonding and team spirit in the squad. The fact that he kept on saying " We're too good to go down" when it was obvious to others we weren't. The arrogance of suggesting it may be the fan's fault for the atmosphere at BP. The atmosphere is made up of what the team provides on the pitch. Will he beable to turn it around, my heart says Yes but alas the data in my brain is saying No. Will he make a good manager, yes but only for the reasons in my first paragraph. Final two words, Artell Out

If he is still here on the day we get relegated then everyone on the board should be sectioned under the mental health act. Only chance of him staying is a miraculous and rapid turnaround in fortunes. He should be long gone by the time we go down.

Despite everything I am still in the camp of wanting him to turn it around, but I know in my heart of hearts you are probably right and it was just the wrong appointment. Stockwood was member a hoop with his capture though. He said he did what he does with important appointments and invited him to his home to get a better impression of the man, and he said it was even better than he imagined. No doubt he shares a lot of Stockwoods beliefs and ways of working, but it is a fine line in getting someone who shares your outlook on life, as to whether they would be right as Head coach. But then the 21st Group should have raised concerns as surely they would have been consulted? With this experience in mind it is easy to see how managers go from one job to another despite regularly being sacked; they are in the loop so to speak, they know current players and agents and are less of a risk than someone who has not been in the game for a while. It is a horrible dilemma for the board; I wouldn't want the responsibility of choosing a manager trying to please 6000 different opinions.

If we stop up he’s here for next season, but if relegated then I think it’s 50/50 for the sack, but our leaders have shown already that they do not make rash, knee jerk reactions, the length of time they gave Hurst and the 6 week’s appointing Artell. Personally I hope he succeeds and does get the players, either new ones or the current ones, to play his style successfully.

I think it might be the exact opposite Ron. If he is still here in May then I fully expect him to be given the chance to storm to NL triumph (or not!)

Yeah if they stick with him up to the point he relegates us then I think they'd try and stick with him in the NL. The negative season ticket implications might be what forces their hand there though.

If they stick with him in non league season ticket sales will be sub 1000. So that force JS to bullet him.
The only reason he’s here now is they cannot afford to get rid of him after paying Hurst off.

I think that they intend to try, but if they ultimately do, it will end up being the owners that will leave the club because the backlash from the fans would be enormous.

I'd like to think that events unfolded so quickly they weren't ready to sack him last weekend. Sunday's Twitter Vote of Confidence bought a bit of time. I seem to remember the match before Doncaster away (Colchester home) which saw PH sacked many people thought that would be that, but PH got another game at Donny. They were well prepared to sack him then and it happened quite quickly. If we lose again I wouldn't be surprised if events unfold just as quickly as they will have a pre-prepared plan that can be quickly rolled out. Getting a new manager bounce (even if it's Caretakers 2.0) will be perfect when FGR are the opposition with the BP crowd 100% behind the team again.

In my opinion I can't see a way back for DA
If you lose the majority of fans it becomes toxic and how can the Relationship be repaired? We Will have another year mediocrity next season unless the new football model suddenly delivers results.
So question for JS doubling down on the new football model or admitting mistakes were made.
I am pro JS by the way. Biggest decision had to make this one.

Yes I hope so. Basically, in order to give a manager the best chance in any given situation you've got to be publicly 100 percent behind him, until you aren't. If you know what I mean, like you say it changes quickly.

I wonder if 1878 are looking at his first season at Crewe with some faith that he'll turn it around, like he did there. His first few months were a bit excrement there to say the least before he had a mad run at the end of the season. At one point they were only 3 points above the drop zone. https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-two/13-february-2018/They ended the season comfortably in midtable, ten points clear of the drop. I really hope that's not the logic in persisting with him. Because every other metric, be it data led or the simple eyeball test tells you were not getting better and need a dramatic change (either in what he's getting from the players or in terms of the man in the dugout).
