There wasn't a lack of this type of thing when the Winter Gardens existed but then somebody approved a company buying it then knocking it down to make flats. One of the worst things to happen to the town's local culture and entertainment, hopefully this new venture can once again bring that type of music and entertainment locally that's been missing for many years. Not just a place to attract larger bands but a place where local music can also grow.

Those soulless flats.  Did a Northern Soul gig there (Winter Gardens, not the flats).  Lovely venue.  The owner asked if we'd made any money.  We said we'd broke even.  He rummaged in his drawer and fished out a tenner and told us to get a few drinks.   Nice of him that.

Several articles on it say the hotels target audience will be contractors for that area, and to be fair most of them currently stay at b&b’s in cleethorpes or St. James hotel, this location would be much better.

I doubt that any contractors stay on Isaacs Hill these days as they're mostly taking in guests from the Social Services.
The days of staying in a Guest house and sharing bathroom etc have long gone.
Our Town has a critical shortage of decent Hotel rooms with most of the hotels we have constantly full.
The location on the docks would be perfect for business and contractors customers.

This is great but it needs considerably more investment around it. It’s a shithole

Are yes Jimmy Jackson, who was the other guy ex miltary, was it Gallaway? I seem to remember.
Had many a good night in the Winter Gardens, from discos, gigs, beer festivals, cricket annual awards night, Grimsby player of the year awards, german wine tasting nights, general use of the bar and of course the bags ball on a Wednesday night.

A lot of contractors (often working on the Humber area) stay in the Holiday Inn.  Expensive but if the company is paying.

The Cleethorpes Premier Inn is always rammed too. People can question “who’d want to stay in Grimsby”, but the answer, surprisingly, is “loads”.
