14 minutes added time before half time on the England game due to the unfortunate head collision with the Iranian goalkeeper, longest I think I've ever seen in a game of football!

Even the commentators had to keep explaining to viewers just tuning in that it was still the first half.

I bet ITV would be raging - that's valuable advert time!

Haven't seen much feigning of injury.  Still I;m yet to see Spain and Portugsal.

With all this added time in both halves can we expect the same filtering down to our level.

One hour each way the new norm.

And Germany have got Spain next.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Has Sule every played as a full back before? He looks really uncomfortable there which isn’t surprising given he’s 6’6 and slow.

Think he has a few times for Dortmund.

Agree, it’s an odd decision given how mobile the Japan team is. It’s the equivalent of playing Mark Lever at RB.

Partly because of the change in rules and style of football over the past 30 years, but I’m not convinced there is a great CB in the whole tournament. Factor in that most full backs in the competition can be ‘got at’ defensively and there are few decent defensive midfielders in the competition, and you’re going to get results like the Japan and Saudi Arabia wins.

Whoever wins the tournament is likely to be the team best at keeping the ball as far away from their own defence as possible, either by ball retention or pressing well with a lot of energy.

That’s why I fancy Spain. They really should have won the Euros but, like England, they got Italicised. Lack of a top quality striker might hurt them and their defence is ropy but they arguably have the best midfield.

I would have thought more minutes would favour the bigger sides but it has not worked that way yet. Fergie Time always did.
