"He's never good enough for the Prem- too slow." Premier League club buys him.

"Only £100,000? He's worth way more than that". Premier League club gives us £250,000 with add ons.

"He'll never make it to the first team- too slow". Premier League club gives him 5 year deal.

He's 19 and been playing in the EFL since he was 17- no mean feat.

At 17, Riyad Mahrez was being rejected by St Mirren. No one knows how a player will develop over time, but Mattie has a chance at least. Hope he makes it.

I think you’re right. We never paid that much (£250k) for anyone except for Lee Ashcroft (£500k) and Phil Jevons (£300k).

Yes, your right it was £100,000
Yes, he was absolutely useless and we sold him on for £30,000. He scored 6 goals in total which probably makes him at £11,000+ per goal the most expensive striker we have ever had.

Lee Ashcroft didn't score as many goals as we hoped, he cost 33k per league goal, however we did sell him for 350k so take that into consideration and it'll be 10k for league goal

We bought Gilligan from Watford following recommendation from ex player Graham Taylor.
I seem to recall our chairman at the time expressing his dismay at Taylor for selling us a dud!
