This Gtfc source could easily of said that as he is currently employed by another team, and doesn't want it out there that he's been offered another job

You mean it isn't already? Under the current circumstances  I think we will do extremely well to get a decent appointment. If Fenty manages it, then he must be more persuasive than I give him credit for.

What would you do if you were Askey? Your team has just thrashed Tranmere and looks pretty certain to be back in the league next year. In the summer there could be a queue of L2 or even L1 clubs at your door with job offers.

You have just seen Brown turn down Grimsby for Fleetwood and he was unemployed. You are in a job and even if you decide to stay there will surely be a decent contract to secure the financial future of a mid-50s manager for a while.

I think you would ponder long and hard about leaving your winners to join strugglers in a relegation battle. Apart from the culture shock you know Fenty only wants to hedge his bets with rolling contracts so is there any security in a move? Is it worth uprooting a family to the other side of the country to a club where you could be a hate figure with the internet happy fans inside a year or fall out with Fenty over summer signings budget?

All these things will need to go through Askey’s mind several times before he makes up his mind. If Fenty pushes him with a time limit he is most likely to refuse the job.

Maybe I am seeing problems where none exist. I sincerely hope so and we get the business sorted out today or tomorrow at the latest. But I don’t think it is as cut and dried as some may believe.

I see in that statement that they are offering discounted season tickets for next season, while the fans are buoyant. Surely that'd never work.
