'Powerwalkers'. Idiots who walk marginally faster than their usual pace whilst swinging their arms around like windmills and pointing their elbows out.

Just jog FFS, clowns.

Aren't you getting them confused with modern football hooligans

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

It's not looking too good is it. Car sales down for the 7th month in a row. Interest rates rising because of inflation. Wages stagnant.

I have never been able to understand why putting up interest rates curbs inflation-and i have an IQ of 2345 and rising daily since I have been on the Fishy.  P.S.  Evra the vile bstrd

Is the decimal point missing after the 3?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,

What do you think he wasn't paying attention to in 2008?  Was it the financial institutes lending too much money to people who simply weren't credit worthy or couldn't afford it?  Correct me if I'm wrong but the whole financial system resembled a house of cards based on under-capitalised lending institutions.  As soon as the saving elements of society realised the terrible risks that had been taken they tried to limit their own individual liabilities (business and private), this revealed a series of under-capitalised banks and the credit bubble was thankfully burst.  So yes, it is a good thing that spending is going down in alignment with affordability.

The point I'm making is that rapid slow downs in consumer spending throw the economy into recession and lead to more unemployment, more debt, lower tax revenues.....so whilst getting debt down to affordable levels is 'a good thing' in theory, in practice it's a lot trickier to achieve without being counter-productive. This is what happened in 2008 and we're still paying the price, and the way out that successive governments have chosen was more of the same. The slowdown in consumer spending because of fears of unsustainable debt became a del-fulfilling prophecy.

As for lower car sales, apart from lower imports ('a good thing') there will be fewer sales of cars made in the UK ('a bad thing'). Getting more local, fewer cars shipped through GY (even if they are German made)so if anyone gets laid off I'm sure you'd be happy to point out to them it's in the national interest.

Whoever agreed to throw away £30,000 of Trust member's money just to have a token impotent representative in the board

As part of the deal to get a place on the Board of GTFC the Trust were given the contract to run the Blundell Park bars. Whilst it is true that (mainly thanks to Sharon and her staff)  the Trust have significently improved the revenue coming from the bars it is utterly inconceivable that without the income from the bars the Trust would've got within a country mile of achieving sufficient income generation to pay for the seat on the GTFC board. It is equally inconceivable that had The Trust not taken up the offer to run the bars the club wouldn't have run them for themselves and cut out the middle man ensuring any profit went direct to GTFC. In short the club gave us the means to raise 30K out of money they would've got a fair proportion of anyway. Thanks to good management of those facilities we actually benefit from income well above what we pay which helps us with our other commitments.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

That 30k could be well spent on Youth Development rather than going into the 'coffers'
