We're on our way, we're on our way......

Here's hoping:
1) The match is on;
2) Town play brilliantly; and
3) We get three points.

They are switching between AM and DAB for us and Scunny now as Scunthorpe has now moved into the 21st century and got itself a DAB mast. Fashion etc of course still firmly in the 1970s.

Surely whoever is at home should not be on FM as the vast majority of people who would actually listen to it would be at the match? I hardly think Hull Vs Burnley will be listened to by the neutrals in the local area and they'd put 5live or Talksport on for Chelsea or Everton.

We can easily turn it around, but poor starts have had a habit of turning into drubbings so we need to be careful for a bit and not do anything silly.  Still loads of time left.

Haven't I heard that before recently ??!!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Dunno I just think kits with low visibility are a bad idea all round, if you look brash and terrible at least they'll be able to see each other and look numerous to the opposition

Our away kit should always be red or blue (royal, not sky blue like that Errea one) with the third kit the previous seasons away kit ideally. Having said that we haven't had a yellow away kit for ages (Mariners Pie 03/04?)

It's a shame the only red and blue striped kits about at the minute are darker coloured to be like Barca. I'd also suggest alternative change home shorts and socks (both in white). You don't see Juve conceding many goals in under 3 minutes.

I was surprised to see Town top the League 2 clean sheet table -

It's a shame the only red and blue striped kits about at the minute are darker coloured to be like Barca. I'd also suggest alternative change home shorts and socks (both in white). You don't see Juve conceding many goals in under 3 minutes.

We've had alternative white shorts and socks with the home shirt in the past - seems daft we've not retained it as an option.

Isn't the reason red socks are back in the home kit because lack of red socks in the home kit was blamed as part of the reason for our clubs long decline

They're playing in the FA Trophy so that'll be why their league game is showing as postponed. Summerfield has scored two (a free kick and a lob from 35 yards!) but they were 10 minutes apart.

This pretty much. Every other combination of black/white/red works and is used by other clubs: Red/white with black worn by Lincoln, Southampton and Sunderland etc. Red and black with white shorts worn by AC Milan. No-one wears black and white shirts with red shorts because it hurts your eyes to look at!

Gunning really isn't a midfielder though. We've got Comley and Maxwell who are far more suited to playing in that position ahead of the back four - why are we persisting in playing square pegs in round holes?

Sounds like we lack a goalscorer, lots of corners and crosses but never anyone getting on the end of them.

or we lack someone who can cross the ball accurately which has been the case most of the season

Best to stick with it, I can't see us restricting them to 1-0 if we have to come and play on a decent pitch

We concede so many goal-scoring opportunities away from home.  Looking back to the Crewe game, every ball that came into our box resulted in a chance.  Seems to be the case today as well.

Because Bignot insists on playing 5 defenders every match and right now we've got a strikeforce on the pitch with about 15 Football League appearances between them and no kind of width to speak of.

If we get anything out of this Diick Turpin would be proud of us.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Can't believe we're still persisting with these ridiculous long throws. We've been at them for about 10 games now and haven't come anywhere close to threatening from any of them. Such a waste of possession in dangerous areas.

But remember we didn't have the "technical" ability in the squad and that was why we were falling short according to bignot.

To concede only 1 goal in 3 games and come out of them with just 4 points is a bit aggravating. Lacking a goal threat with this system away from home.

Fcked if i know.......came away last week beaming ......same team, sounded pretty dire........missed chances cost us in the end even though we didnt have that many.

MB's substitutions seemed to disrupt us more than help us by the sounds of it.

It seems like when he loses a game, he thinks about the next one, so for example decided we needed a more physical team against newport
When we win a game he sticks with the previous system and lineup, thsi time regardless that we're now away from home and its muddy and wet

Despite the dire performance, being mid table with no worries of relegation is perfectly fine for me. I do think we have a good team, all they need is time. This season is ebb and flowing.

I don't get to enough games to offer much more in-depth comment but I just don't get us.

One week we'll batter a playoff team who's on a winning run, the next lose to one of the worst teams I've seen all season.  We'll win away at the top of the league team but capitulate at a team without a win in six games.  We'll hammer one team with five goals then go to their place and not get off the coach.

Football just defies all logic sometimes.

I keep get shouted down but we are going backwards despite all the belly tickling by Bignot. We simply aren't organised and are offering zero threat in far too many games.
Of late we have had complete and utter no shows at Crawley, Stevenage, Crewe and now Morecambe yet people keep buying in to the dribble about 'the group' and how much improved we are and this is a long term project. It isn't. It's a shambles!

Strange feeling tonight as to what and how they go from last week to this, some will say it's league 2 and that's how it is and that's fine it's their opinion as for me I'm unconvinced and as the weeks go on it just cements my opinion that something just isn't quite right .

He talks an absolute belter but clearly something isn't getting across to these "technically" better footballers we have now .

What is a worry is the way JT called the game it sounded like we where lucky not to get another pasting with them hitting the woodwork twice and 2 disallowed goals. Also we did not sound like we where offering anything of quality in response.

This means Tuesday night will be a draw as we are currently in a cycle where across 3 games we win one draw one and lose one, we where "consistently inconsistent" we are now becoming "increasingly inconsistent".

Anyway well done to those who made a wet/cold trip and safe trip home!

Easy after the event, Jones probably not fit enough for two consecutive games up front, Dyson too lightweight therefore no threat for a goal, midfield sounded like we needed a Comely, or Dis along side Clements, Gunning IMO this seasons journey man,  and I won`t accept he`s any better than Gowling or Boyce, lets hope we have a bit more fire power on Tuesday

Or even McAlister? He looked closer to match fitness for the reserves on Tuesday. I don't know what to make of Gunning, seems like a bit of a mentalist to me.

I think most of believe MB talks a good, even a great game but unfortunately the evidence to back it up just isn't there. Wouldn't be so bad if he said, "Look, it's a work in progress, don't expect too much."  instead of the playoff bullshit he was coming out with after last week's great win. We're all fans and we all want success but we all know deep down that we're nowhere near a promotion team yet. So I think what I'm trying to say Mark is, please stop with the bullshit and let's look forward and work towards a great NEXT season.

maybe they were right but JT and Nigel Lowther are such a negative double act. Almost wanting Morecome to score again so they could say, "we could see that coming". Put me in a downer that. But at least I don't have to drive back over the M62. Roll on Tuesday

I think it's the manner of the defeats we take, the actual non performance and the way we just seem to uninterested.

I remember Marcus saying in his first ever interview when he got the job it went somewhere along the lines of " I don't accept second best" well it's something you seem to be getting lately Marcus.

I'm not going ott just these defeats and the manner in them are concerning IMO.

Get a grip people, some on here moaned at Hurst for being too negative and talking up the opposition, Marcus arrives and does exactly what people moaned at Hurst for not doing and then people moan at that.

I for one have never bought Bignot's all words and no meaning. His cheeky witticisms are brilliant if you win every week but they seem like cocky clever clogs remarks when we lose. We weren't terrible in the first half but we created nothing except a header from Gunning that he should have scored. We were awful in the second half and could easily have lost 3 or 4.

What is the point of Gunning? He looks and plays like a pub player, apart from being a thug he offers nothing that McAllister, Dis and Comley can't. Bignot loves him though. He's always talking up his footballing ability but sorry where is it?

If most of you don't like it under MB possible because you all seen the glory days like my dad seems what you all go on about if you don't like don't f*cking come on ( rob Scott rant) can't keep living in the past for god sake, give him a chance like we all did for Paul Hurst 6 years I remember !!!

Ollie I find your post at best, condescending. Yes I have enjoyed the successes under McMenemy, Booth, Kerr and Buckley but I also spend my money travelling the country to support GTFC.

I have travelled to such 'glory' destinations as Hayes & Yeading, Woking, Ebbsfleet, Dover etc many on a Tuesday night. I don't say this to seek praise because it was entirely MY choice. I did it because I wanted too.

I am travelling to Crawley, Stevenage, Crewe etc & I am getting drunk off with not only the team going through the motions, but  we have no structure whatsoever, we lurch from system to system, failing to create a chance worthy of the name. I can accept losing, god knows I have followed Town since the mid 1960's, but I cannot accept the shambles I am currently witnessing.

To have some youngster say if I don't like it , don't come makes my blood boil. I have played enough football and seen enough to be worried. If Bignot would have added an Osbourne and Jones to what we had we would have been work in progress and I would have been ok but to witness what I am seeing makes me angry.

Time for Bignot to stop the happy smiley, cheeky chappy routine and get some structure shape and effort into our team. At present, away from home, we are a gift of 3 points to anyone. Next away game is Orient, they have the worst home record in the division, I am worried, very worried

Just listened to MBs radio interview and he is clearly p1ssed off that we did not do as instructed prior to them scoring. I understand that but he did make a couple of other comments I found interesting

He said we played with “2 centre forwards” technically we did one rookie (Dyson) and another  (Jones) who I thought was a mid field player who can play up top. Pedantic I know but surely with a squad of our size we should be selecting players in their natural positions.

He then talked about playing with “1 out and out winger” which begs the question on how you then balance the side if you have not got another natural wide player.

When asked about the 88 minutes after the goal he talked about the players decision making being “a level below” surely this will happen a bit this season as 5 starters today have played most of the careers at that level or lower and one is an U23. He did say something along the lines of it wasn’t the players they had brought in but I would have t listen to it again to be sure what he meant, I think he just got carried away a bit then

On the back of this he went on to point the finger at Tombola who from the commentary sounded like he did o.k. and was no worse than others. He talked about changed for the games coming up, it will be interesting to see who starts on Tuesday
So maybe the posters on here are not the only ones to get a bit emotional when we lose but things feel a bit ragged at the moment which may explain some of the inconsistency.

If he says that we're a work in progress for next season, he'll be called unambitious. If he says that we'll make the playoffs, he gets shotdown for talking bullshit.

Even though we all know this is a transitional season as it would have been under the one who's name I am no longer allowed to mention as well as MB, the manager and players do have a responsibility to serve up something half decent during such a period. I couldn't afford to go today but by the sounds of it on RH and Barra's Just Back post we where in reality no better in terms of football & application than we where at various away grounds in the last couple of months.

And if he keeps serving up non performances then he has every right to be criticised.

The way he sets up the team with one winger and one tucked in then one out and out striker with one tucked behind then one central defender playing in front of the defence just seems on the whole tactics that over complicate things.

We could play a 442 if he hadn't sent nearly all our wingers on loan.

I think he needs to look at how he has set us up and maybe go back to basics, it's just my opinion and it seems to me he has gone to a system that for some reason just hasn't worked IMO and he should look at his reasons for doing this, why he insists this system he swears by is what we need right now.

I don't disagree that it's a work in progress, or that we should give the manager lots of time.  I do think most people are just expressing exasperation and puzzlement at the nature of some of our defeats given how well we play in some games.  Exploring the reasons for that inconsistency isn't an unreasonable thing to do, even on the Fishy!

I think one of the things that is wrong is that when we get the ball forward we don't have anybody with the skills to hold onto the ball so it comes straight back. If we had a decent winger who could keep the ball it would give us a chance to move forward, but at the moment it's just like ping pong. I hope Vose is fit to play on Tuesday- he's the only player capeable of holding the ball in their half.

A decent result against Mansfield, but sadly no answer again away from home.  Brilliant away following yet again with nothing to cheer.  Post match MB no real answers to yet another horror show.  We have points in the bag, and touch wood we will be fine this season.  I really cannot see MB in this role long term, I don;t think he has enough knowledge at this level.

Did not go today but from the commentary  it seems that we either had no plan or shape,  or were not following the tactics that had been practised during the week, to go one down so early was not a disaster had the team shown some sort of fighting spirit.

Seems to me that there needs to be changes on Tuesday,  with an inclusion of out of favour players who will show
some balls

I still think he was seething and rightly so at that goal, seen it and it must go down as one of the most basic errors from a corner I have ever seen.

Id rather have gowling in the Gunning in my opinion, he reminds me of the players that got us relegated to non league. I know we should give him a chance though so his got to the end of the season to earn a contract but i wouldnt offer him one at this time.

Based upon what we have seen there are more effective players  waiting in the wings, if MB is serious about a play off pus then he needs to examine his options, and quickly.

In the position Gunning has played in recent games Dis, Maxwell, McAlister, Davis or indeed Gowling could do that job,

Does seem odd that we're playing a centre back in midfield when we've got about 36 midfielders.

It seemed like we had 36 when Dis and Clay were controlling the midfield   They played well together

Just from the highlights I noticed that Morcambe seemed to be closing us down on the edge of their box on mass whenever we have corners, crosses cleared etc and blocking crosses shots within a few feet of it leaving our boots whereas our blocks all seem to be nearer the 6 yard box, Morcambe players always seemed to have space to get their shots off. As for Macca, sorry we desperately need a keeper who can command his box, hes decent and pulled off a couple of good saves but no keeper should be punching chest and head height balls when stood on their line windy conditions or not
