A certaint hree points for us, surely? Though we will lose them again if Kettering fold before the end of the season which seems very likley.

Serge must be thinking thank fook for Grimsby, close one.

That pic of Stimson is going to give me nightmares though. He bares a close resemblance to Nosferatu. They should photoshop a black cape on him.

I like the chairmans marketing nous when it comes to trying to offload his players to other clubs. Main selling point:

"They have decided to fight with each other and lunge in and try to injure other players. They have decided not to train hard enough, not eat the right foods and go out at night. It's their fault and I am not willing to pay their money and the football club can't."

Hmmm....bet Newell would raid that club if he were (somehow) in work.

No. Let's just quote the things he actually said. About shifting almost his entire squad.

Always very sad to see clubs struggling but from our point of view, Christmas has come early !

That's a slight downer.
All we can do is go there and get the 3 points, the rest is in the lap of the gods.

I'm starting to wonder if relegation is even mathematically possible if so many teams end up going pop.

The bookies odds are tumbling. Corals still offering 2.5 for a Town win, best priced at the moment. Fill your boots.

Also put some on us -1.75 Asian Handicap with Bet365 at 5.5. If we win by 3 goals it pays out, lose half your stake if we win by 2.

2.3 (13/10 in old money) the best price nearly anywhere now. Corals have cut their price to that as well.

Kettering have signed two 16 year olds on loan from Posh. Surely we can beat these!!

One of them doesn't even look 16!

There's been some money on Kettering as a result of these signings or maybe people just looking at the league table and thinking they're a good bet without knowing the background, or maybe just trying to arb a few quid. At any rate you can get much better than evens from the big bookies still: Tote and Betfred are still priced 2.25, and you can get up to 2.3 from the smaller bookies if you shop around. So it looks like the bookies/market still expect Town not to win (otherwise we'd be odds on), even if some of us think it's a foregone conclusion.

Would've thought Marna could've done better than Corby.

PaddyPower (and now Stan James) have suspended betting on Grimsby   Long time since that happened LOL

Most bookies are odds on now but some are still odds against. Corals are 2.1 (11/10 in old money), and 5/1 for Town to win both halves.

Don't, they wanted success n couldn't afford it, they will drop to their level financially as will others over the next few years. I predict that this league will eventually fill with ex league teams and they will be ex league teams transient between BSP - BSN/BSS! We as town fans still want success but it will cost, ergo if we over stretch even more financially without a benefactor holding benign loans we will be in the same circumstances as Kettering, Darlo, Rushden, Cambridge. Fortunately we have a solid fan base if die hard fans of 2,000 plus which is a decent crowd in this div and div 2. We need to do what Cambridge have done this season n cut their cloth n got players in on wages that are within their means!

Found on their forum :-

Not looking good for Saturday
by topper on Thu Nov 24, 2011 7:31 pm

Transfer embargo being put on KTFC tomorrow due to not paying Crawley when we loaned JD and BS so two Peterborough lads and MK Dons loanee will probably have to go back.

With a majority of the squad not training (so presumably unwilling to play on Saturday) we may struggle to get a team.

More youth teamers then? We shouldn't get complacent.

Will Hill and Bet 365 are running other markets apart from outright result. Worth a look.

Will Hill - 1/4 Town to win or draw (if you want to buy money); 8/5 Town win 1st half (gd odds based on recent aways, where we have scored early goals)

Sporting Index aren't running spread bets - another bookie scared off

Fully professional performance needed by Town on Saturday - positive start and got to try to go for the throat !

This is a great chance to play well and if possible , raise that goal difference into a positive for the rest of the season.

There should be no mercy and the win is vital.

Must win well game!

It seems likely any points will be cancelled before the end of the season anyway. We might as well enjoy the the thrashing, but treat it as a training game.

A certaint hree points for us, surely? Though we will lose them again if Kettering fold before the end of the season which seems very likley.

I wouldn't bet on it. After the up of Tuesday evening we're due a stuffing by some no-hopers. Usually happens.

Yes, and lose the 3 points we got earlier against them, so we could be plunged deep in the mire when they do go.

What's become of us as fans! I can't criticise any negativity as at the back of my mind there is a bit of doubt. I hate what has become of us, pessimism always hovering around any small glimmer of optimism. Right that said I'm dismissing negativity n we will win! Maybe

I used to be optimistic, but the last ten years have drummed it out of me to the extent that I am now a miserable pessimistic moaner.   I triy and look on the bright side but it is bloody difficult!

Still, I am 100% confident that we will win on Saturday(just as i was against Bath and Newport!)

I suppose once we start winning regularly, we fans will slowly start to believe again. Good wins tomorrow and Tuesday, followed by a convincing win at Salisbury would go a long way. However we have 4 relatively new players five including Green alongside Panther, Townsend, Antwii n McCarthy. Then we still have some young players of our own in the squad!

Apparently their away kit is all-grey which was deemed to clash with black and white shirts. Listening to Radio Blunderside on the way to the match, they seemed to think we would be wearing our blue away kit during the game but we obviously came to an agreement for Vale to have the red shirts instead.

Blue kit not allowed as the referees wear blue in FA cup games.

We played Crystal Palace once on the TV (in the old b/w days) and had to wear their old strip with a sash on it.

A certain Mr Boylen was in the side that day as I recall.

All our subs were warming up in our blue away kit so it was a fair assumption that we would be playing in blue. They later got changed.

Are we ruthless enough to take any advantage over Kettering, go for their throats from the whistle. If they've had us watched it won't do much good with the new players coming in. Surely any youth players they have to field will struggle over 90 mins and Hearn alongside Elding should be too much for seasoned players, then pace on both flanks and a strong midfield, surely we can't contrive to mess thus one up?

in trouble are awful opponents to play against - look at Darlo going and winning 3-1  away from home  last week when their club was in turmoil - you have to be very wary of the backs to the wall fighting spirit which is often shown by these clubs in trouble - i wouldn't touch Town at 1/2 with someone elses money!
Of course i still hope we win and Kettering d'ont drop out of the league, because we would then be minus 6 points and  right in the do-do.

surely we can't contrive to mess thus one up?

oooh ticker - can't believe you've said this!! must be your first season as a town fan

never under estimate the depths to which town can sink!! ever ytime we say that this is rock bottom they manage to confound us at a later date  by being even more inept.
I am sure that not only is gtfc cursed, but also that they have in the dressing room a large book entitled ' how to cok things up' and they have been gradually working their way through it in the last 10 years

Now now Forza, you know full well that when we change the manager they have to start again at the beginning of the book so as yet we  nowhere near the end,  no one has even seen chapter 3.

Need to have the attitude we showed against Ashington. They could be running on adrenalin similar to an FA Cup minnow, what with all the background that's going on, but they'll be mostly a young side and will run out of steam over 90 minutes you would think. Time for a professional display from Town, just keep at it from the word go.

All our subs were warming up in our blue away kit so it was a fair assumption that we would be playing in blue. They later got changed.

Presumably at kick-off time because they didn't come out to the bench until five or ten minutes after the gane had started.

Isn't that lad Mason-Hughes who played in the pre-season friendly for us at Brigg with Kettering?

Ever the optimist......you just know that Kettering will probably score first.

Batch, K.Moore, Waters, Wiggington, Crombie, Brolly, Ford, Drinkell, Mitchell, Cumming, Kilmore. D.Moore, Stone, Liddell. ....1979/80..... now that WAS a team.

Yes it is. He is playing for free and travelling up from London every day apparently.

EDIT - not playing for free but on non contract terms.

Stolen from another footie site:

A kettering fan stated this;  There are rumours that none of our contracted players will turn up tomorrow. If they don't, then we could be in serious trouble- it will be a team full of youth players.

Agreed. The key against Ashington was the early goal. Same again will do nicely.

I'd have thought that Kettering would be desperate to put a side out even if it is their youth team, as there would most probably be fines and obviously the loss of gate money if they don't, so I expect the game to go ahead.

This could potentially cause a loop hole in the system, for example there is no rule that doesn't stop Kettering from signing a team of non contract players and they can keep rotating non contract players when the others expire this means they wouldn't have to pay anything out but obviously the team could be different each month lol.  I know they now have a transfer embargo but not sure if that includes non contracted players.
