Speaking of Tuesday evening, I never did find out why they were wearing our spare shirts. Did they turn up with a kit that was too similar to ours?

Apparently their away kit is all-grey which was deemed to clash with black and white shirts. Listening to Radio Blunderside on the way to the match, they seemed to think we would be wearing our blue away kit during the game but we obviously came to an agreement for Vale to have the red shirts instead.

Blue kit not allowed as the referees wear blue in FA cup games.

Bet Man City would not change their kit!

We played Crystal Palace once on the TV (in the old b/w days) and had to wear their old strip with a sash on it.

A certain Mr Boylen was in the side that day as I recall.

All our subs were warming up in our blue away kit so it was a fair assumption that we would be playing in blue. They later got changed.
