For the first 10 minutes we made Port Vale look like Real Madrid! We couldnt get near them.
Gradualy we got into it and out of the blue hearn (2), Elding and coulson had good chances.
2nd half we continued to get chances and I'anson had one cleared off the line (must have been very close) Elding and Hearn again.
Our goal looked a clear handball by Meadowlark.
They tried to get back into it and McKeown ade a couple of good saves.
I'd guess the stats will show PV had more of the ball but frankly they did little with it. We defended well and created clear chances. Not a bad receipe.
Wood, I'anson, Pearson Elding and Disley stood out with only the goalmachine having a poor game IMO

We should of put this game to bed alot earlier! but hey ho we went through. I'anson and Pearson where spot on, possible pairing for a run of game now? i certainly hope so. Disley's best game in a town shirt by a mile he ran that midfield and personally i think Vale's number 4 looked a very good player but disley kept him in his back pocket. Elding gave alot of effort without much reward but he did his shift, being picky maybe should of done better with his chance. Coulson god how we missed him on saturday, a coulson at the top of his game is alot better than a bsp player. Hearn should of done better with his chances but the way he used his strenght against their defenders made him look a player alot bigger than he actually is. My question is why does anyone get McKeown's back? he is our player of the season IMO and our best keeper for years. All of players that i haven't mentioned all did their shift and nice to see serge cash in with another goal (regardless whether it was handball or not!) Overall it was a nice solid performance and hopefully we can carry this on in the league, and cup. Nice to go to bed in a happy frame of mind. P.S IF THE PERSON THAT FOUND MY PHONE AND HANDED IT IN TO THE POLICE SATION IS ON HERE, THANK YOU SO MUCH AND DROP ME A PM

An efficent performance and defensively so much better, I really believe I'anson and Pearson could be the pairing finally! I thought Wood was the most shaky out the back 4 tonight and I thought Panther was an absoloute joke! Apart from them two and one atrocious piece of goalkeeping from Mckeown, we played very well. Elding was fantastic tonight, as were Disley and Townsend; Hearn missed two great chances but it happens and he worked well with Elding. Serge started doing the simple things right for once and took his goal well, Coulson did a lot with the ball when he finally got it but the supply to him was minimal. It'd be nice to push on now and see Kempson rested for a little while, whilst we were still ran at and there were a few heart in mouth moments; when the ball was in the box we didn't panic and make school boy errors. Slight run down of the players; Mckeown - Made 2 decent saves but how he allowed that ball to hit the post was barmy. It was tapped towards goal; the ball waved at him, shook his hand, stuck it's tounge out at him and then trickled onto the post! Apart from that he was solid. 6/10 Wood - Going forward he was good but defensively I thought he got taken on far too many times and very rarely put in the challenge needed. Maybey he's been told to stay on his feet more, who knows? 6/10 Pearson - Had a couple of nervy slips at the begining but it was a great return to the side after that; won everything in the air and didn't mess around with it. 7/10 I'anson - Same as Pearson without the nervy start, one of our best players tonight and his pace really compliments Pearsons ability in the air. I did say earlier on this season these two would work well and on tonights showing I could be right! 7/10 Townsend - Got forward well and got rid when needed. Didn't give them a single sniff on that left side and gave a great final performance. Be a shame to see him go, good player. 8/10 Coulson - Wasn't given the ball anyway near enough, he did well when he had it and is certainly up there with our best players. 7/10 Panther - The weak link by an absoloute country mile! It's a travesty that Anthony Church is out on loan when this guy is in the first team, he gave the ball away every single flipping time tonight and won it back maybey 2-3 times. He's awful at the minute and I hope for all our sakes it's just because he's not fit. 5/10 Disley - Was superb even when doing 2 mens jobs, he just oozes class and is clearly the best midfielder we've had in years. His passing, skill and work rate is just superb. 8/10 Makofo - Finally did the simple things tonight, however when he tried the hard things he tended to look a bit of a tool He took his goal well. He is an asset and you can't deny he does have an impact, though these performances don't come often enough! 7/10 Elding - He edged MOM for me over Disley. He won so many headers which is a marked improvement but also his footwork and work rate were fantastic! Okay if you have one critcism it's that his finishing needs work, but he really did stand out tonight. 8.5/10 Hearn - Hmmm, it looks to me like he's lacking confidence. I think he's getting frustrated being singled out by defenders and being doubled up on, Liam Hearn 3 weeks ago would've buried those two chances especially the second. His work rate and general play tonight were great as always and for once him and Elding looked a perfect match. Time will tell wether they can consistantly bang them in while playing together though. 7/10

Actually went home feeling really good tonight after a good solid entertaining performance. Excellent "ball control" from Serge for a great opportunist goal Thought the team showed some real desire tonight and the changes were definitely tactically successful !

So did the players get a good reception after the full time whistle cos it works both ways if they played shite people moan and players are lambasted but if we played really well I hope the fans let them know that we don't just moan.
