According to John Tonduer on Twitter, Darran Kempson is out of the game tomorrow night with an ankle injury. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

good thing from my point of view.

I see that Grimsby fans don't rate him, but when i saw him at Vale last week, he looked solid and commanding in the air. Some of you may laugh but just thought i would share my view from an opposing teams view of things.

Saying that, he didnt have much to do last week, where as with Marc Richards back for Vale tomorrow he would of been more tested.

If Kempson were to put in the same kind of performance against Vale tomorrow as he did on Saturday, imho a good thing he's out of contention

I done know if anyone else noticed but Kempson was limping on and off most of the game against Newport, so if that was the case it may explain his poor performance. Out of all our centre backs Kempson is one of the best two, if not the best!

When he's close enough to the ball he's quite decisive & not bad in the tackle, but if you watch him he is often caught out by a few yards because he lacks pace and doesn't seem to read the game well enough to make up for it.

If he didn't HOOF the ball so much, he wouldn't of hurt his ankle.

He's a poor man's John Terry. Bit of a clogger but will gladly stick his head in. Not a lot of pace or positional awareness but would run through a wall for you. I'd prefer Garner & I'Anson every day of the week. They looked excellent in pre-season when Kempson wasn't fit. Pearson is yet to convince me but he should come good alongside a decent player.

So in short, yeah, a good thing for me!!
