My honest + reasonably held opinion of John Fenty

1. He seems to be a genuine fan of GTFC.

2. He has never shirked from putting the club's best interests before his own interests.

3. His high-level financial support has been critical to the club's survival in the wake of the ITV Digital fiasco.

4. His chances of getting his loans repaid are minimal.

5. He has refrained from selling BP and/or putting the club into liquidation - the 2 actions that offer him the best chance of partial repayment.

6. He has significant business skills - he seems to have been an effective entrepreneur in the fish business.

7. Perhaps he believed that a football club could be run on sound business principles and be successful on the pitch.

8. If I were him, I would bitterly regret ever having got involved in a lose-lose situation like running a small professional football club.


All of the above is based on newspaper reports and comments made on the internet - it is intended solely a piece of amateur and personal conjecture ... it is not intended as a statement or assertion of fact ...

He rejected an application from Slade to appoint Scott & Hurst.

As you seem to be acting as family spokesperson Sonik, can I ask you to ask your brother to come up with a medium term business plan that is a. sustainable and b, sufficiently detailed as to give the long-suffering fans a glimmer of hope that they may well have a football team to support moving forward.

Elsom & Chapman wanted experienced manager Slade.

Furneaux and - according to you - Parker wanted youth team manager Woods.

There are pages and pages of threads debating a lack of common sense at boardroom level, so I shan't start another one, but at the end of the day, Elsom and Chapman were argued down.
