The Council and the College have no "fecking money". In fact does anybody round here have any?
I never said the council had to put money! Many other ways the council could work with GTFC.

That's it ian, there is many ways they could assist us moving forward, not every thing evolves around cash although cash would be a massive bonus.

Totally agree. We need to get rid of the MP's councilors and those happy to receive a pay check for not actually helping the Town and area, Grimsby needs new blood, fresh ideas so it can try to move forward, both club and Town. We are a gateway to Europe, land is cheap compared to down South and plenty of room to build housing in the future, we should be reaching out to encourage new investment on the South Humber Bank. It is all a great idea but with the people who represent us we have no chance of moving forward and will always be a little back water, so frustrating.

Could we see one of these involved in the future of GTFC ? I know some clubs have there local council or college involved in some capacity, I know the ain't many fans of our local council but could be worth thinking about with help towards a new stadium and so on I can't remember which clubs have gone down this route Donny have but any more? If the worsed happened and we was to go under would the council step in ? My first thoughts would be no but you never know untill it happens.
Darlo's Council don't give 2 felicitations about our club. But they was alrite granting that lunatic Reynolds permission to build the White Elephant Stadium. Then they had to the cheek to jump on the FA Trophy winners band-wagon. Fcuking mongs the lotta them. Seems like NE Lincs is the same, all deluded idiots thinking they are better than everyone else.

Two many people in white collar jobs, having to much power, wealth and ideas to line their own back pockets in this country it seems to be the same for many areas.
At least you have a stadium and could use it for many events with the right stadium events planning team.

Loads of councils have supported their local football teams, Chesterfield, Doncaster and Hull are local teams who have had strong support in building nice stadiums and are on the up.
We need the support of NE Lincs Council, does not have to be finacial help, just support in finding new land oppertunities, working together to attract new business and oppertunities to the area, this would help Grimsby as a whole.
Yes we need the support of the council but we won't get that in cash. Neither did any of the 3 you mentioned. The help was in planning and in supporting other community aspects of the stadia. Hull City got their cash via the sale of KC so it wasn't taxpayers' money. The way the council can help is to make it easy to find a good site and for planning permission and to agree to add on bits to the stadium that will be for community use. It's stupid the way we see BP lying idle all week and any new stadium ought to include facilities for local people to use, and pay for. The snag is that this takes capital and the council can only get that as a grant from somewhere. Such things are a bit thin on the ground these days. The stadium itself would need capital as well, from a private source. Some of it could be financed from the sale of BP but in the current economic climate the proceeds of a sale will be fairly low. Equally, the chances of a big firm coming in with the massive investment for building the stadium are slim to zero. It's a pessimist's market at the moment.

Whatever we earn from events based at the stadium, about 50/60% of money taken HAS to be given to the Council. Even on match-days, the £5 car-parking fee. £3 has to go to the council. Fooking joke. They don't give a flying fook.

It might seem like that as a supporter but the council put the cash up front, even if it was from selling KC, so council tax payers are surely entitled to see some return on the money.

The Council didn't pay for anything to do with the stadium though.
