Did you hear Hurst's pre match interview? Would have given you a clue.

Hope Taylor has a good game.  Like the lad, but he's been off the pace.  I'm not slagging off his commitment just his age has caught up with him.

Orsi starts.

Negative
(Haven't listened to any pre match stuff) but still drunk off Taylor starts over Lloyd. Or over anyone else for that matter.
Age is just a number so I'm not blaming his age but he's just not good enough.

Presumably Hurst wants to reward Orsi by giving him the best opportunity to show what he can do. If I was Orsi, Taylor would be the one I would want as my strike partner.

They’re the Quinn and Phillips de nos jours.

He was good enough to get us that brilliant equaliser at Wrexham. Without that we’d probably be looking forward to another tough set of non-league playoffs ahead at best…

Hurst in his prematch was talking about seeing what some players can do, so perhaps trying Orsi with Taylor is something different. He might also bring Khouri on ay half time given his good display against Barrow.

Just don't see him as mobile enough now, no lacking in brain or ability just cant move quickly enough. Did really well last season but now we have to look at next season and just dont think he should stay. Hopefully he will score a hat trick today and leave some of us blushing

9 odd months ago and an injury inbetween. Come on, be honest, since he's come back from injury he's offered nothing at all. I loved him last season and felt he worked well with McAtee. Intact that header I'll never forget, inch perfect. But it's in the past.

I can't quote 2 people on my phone but for whoever said it could be to see how Orsi works off a target man, I guess that makes sense.
I hope I'm proven wrong today as I do anytime I criticise a player (very rare)

Good to hear Kevin Jobling on RH today. Was a solid, consistent, versatile performer for us and always came across as a top fella.

Did I miss hear or did he call us Shrewsbury in his opening comment? He’s just referenced the fact he played for the Shrews towards the end of his career - so maybe I didn’t miss hear.

we are not giving those stupid fouls away and giving them possession.  Instead, we are putting pressure on and forcing them into mistakes.

Hartlepool 0-1 Crawley

Not looking good for the Monkey Hangers as it stands.

You’d have imagined winning 4-1 away and then a good draw at home would help you out but it seems they’ve copulated it. Although, they’ve been down the bottom all season for a reason…

Another toe poke away from equalising there. Everything we're doing is going through Harry today he's having another good game.

Listening to it we sounded pretty good in the first half but 1-0 down to a pen. We should get a draw at least from this game.

Better team playing some decent football but season long (and longer) problem manifests itself once again.
Orsi unlucky though, keeper didn't know much about that, just hit him and bounced to safety.
Definite end of season feel to the game.
Meh.

Good first half display, Taylor off now please. Done absolutely nothing at all. Not closed down, won next to no headers, no Good positions from crosses. He's done 3 or 4 passes which even an amateur could have done.

Orsi is working hard and was unlucky as I felt keeper saved well. Most players are playing OK, Cliftons first touch has been poor but once its under control he's doing well. Emmanuel giving it a go bombing forward which I like.

Bring Lloyd on and maybe even Hunt for Holohan and I think we could get a win still

Clifton having a great game, we're creating great situations but final pass always just not right. Noticed each time the ball dropped in the box for us there were usually at least 7/8 players between the ball and goal and the fact that Orsi has blocked 2 of our shots as well looks like it will be hard to get that goal. Watching on tv, Lukes miss was terrible

No criticism of Holohan from me.

If you get chance to watch it again, watch what the player who wins the penalty does in relation to the ball. He let's the ball carry on rolling away from him and stops running because he knows Gav is chasing behind him and will bundle into him if he suddenly stops right in front of him.

Difficult one because in real time it looks like Gav's just barged into him clumsily but that's not really the case I don't think.

Listening on Mariners TV I hardly heard Taylor mentioned, if he had have been on the team sheet I would have thought he wasn't playing. As others have posted time to sub him for Lloyd, give Taylor a big thank you for last season and release him.

Taylor has only linked play when we've won the ball in defence and hit it into his feet. He's then released it quickly to someone in space (3 times i think?)... yes it helps us keep momentum and moving forward which is great but apart from that he's done nothing

Much the better side and created some golden chances. We are seeing the lack of ruthlessness that means we are not a play off side.

The right quality added up front in the summer and it may be a really exciting season.

Just a tiny disparity in the number of attempts on goal in the first half:

Well done Orsi, forced a corner out of nothing there

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

3 shortest players make up the wall, and freekick goes over them with ease, Max has no chance

It was right down the middle of the goal, any keeper should save it. Most keepers would have saved this as well, but for some reason Crocombe's decided to wrong foot himself wrongly predicting the cross:

Taylor off ASAP please.  When Max put his cross / shot in, Taylor was ambling round the edge of the 18 yeard box when he should have been closer to  the six yard box.

If I was Matt Dran I'd just sack commentary off for this game and have more of a chat with Kevin Jobling about the Buckley era.

And we’d lose about 4 foot in height and be beaten at every set piece. There’s so much more to this game than individual technical abilities.

So typical of our season this one. They've made intercourse all in attack and we've gifted them two free goals. We can pressure and pressure and have 15 shots on goal and draw a blank. Soft underbelly and lack of clinical edge needs to be sorted for us to progress beyond midtable. Absolutely fine between both boxes, which is more indicative of the workmanlike players Hurst likes than anything.

That's a penalty there hahaha They've done intercourse all and we should now be facing 3-0

All his best work for us has been as a wing back with 3 CBs or at right wing. He's not very comfortable at full-back and I don't know how Hurst hasn't realised this yet.

Jobbers talking about being concussed 4 or 5 times in his career, not being able to remember who they'd just played or where he was on the team bus home. Crikey, a different time.

16 shots, 6 on target, 3 'big' chances missed, 1.64 xG (if you believe in it), 0 goals. We're so bad at converting chances.

Does anybody know the gate and away gate? I've heard nothing on Mariners TV.

50% possession, and three times as many attempts as them, yet we lose again, when we should be getting at least a draw from that.

I'm baffled as to how many chances we miss and how easily teams score against us.

We are missing gilt edged chances.

One problem is our only tall centre forward is never in the box for crosses other than at a set piece

We must sign a proven goalscorer. We dominated this game and lost. Barmy.

They’ll both be in demand, but with Hartlepool as good as relegated we should be looking at both Josh Unerah & Callum Cooke. Both have a year left on their contracts.

We should be showing any potential centre forwards all the chances we've missed this season. Good striker would've had a bucketful.

Safe journey home to all the faithful fans who went. I could hear over Mike Dean but the team let you down. Onwards and upwards (hopefully) to Tuesday with Crewe at home.

We definitely need to score more goals. Our defence actually concerns me the most at the minute though. We find it very difficult to keep clean sheets and our goals against will need to significantly decrease to match play-off chasing teams next season.

My 17th game I've watched this season, the most for many years and my summary of the season is boring but got the points we needed .

Once again, I have to say, far too slow to change things and make subs.

At least we are winning some and losing some both Wimbledon and Doncaster are in free fall.
Just 7 points between 10th and 18th and we could finish anywhere between those two.

Chances - how many might Mani have scored from less then 6 yards today?

Passing - have we tested the colour blindness of the team members as we seem to not be able to pass to players wearing our own team shirts !!

Nearly 60 games this year, the higher standard in Div 2, and with having had a short pre season has caught up with a lot of the players.

Slack passing, sloppy positioning, and no speed around the pitch lately have all cost us.

It must frustrate the management team when they see the same players who shook 5 higher league teams but struggle against those in the same league.

Season end - hard decisions to come, lose the sympathy, and build a far more competitive team again.

Owed to every loyal fan !!

Obviously, it doesn’t really matter in terms of positions/points, but I do think it’s a bit disappointing that we’re not seeing much urgency or evolution of approach and strategy. Tranmere made subs before we did today and they were winning. We’re too slow to react, tactically. We can use 5 subs. We had players who were completely ineffectual or even pretty poor but they were kept on too long. There’s nothing at stake. Why the hesitancy in changing? I like Hurst, but substitutions have, in my opinion, always been an area for improvement for me. I want to see him be bolder, braver, more expansive and less risk averse. I can understand being conservative in a tight relegation scrap, but come on….

All true about our lack of potency, but should’ve been “nil” against apart from a stupid foul by Gav plus a poor FK from Josh due to indecision initially and then GK positioning looking like he’d been coached by Macca! (Not to mention another nailed on pen the ref missed!)

Orsi and Lloyd upfront for 90mins we don't lose that game. 1st half we crested a few good chances and I think with 2 mobile strikers I reckon we'd have crested even more and mo doubt scored eventually. Both Orsi and Lloyd have shown they can score goals (Orsi was unlucky today, good same by the goalkeeper)

Would love to know our shot on target % and % of shots on target to goals this season. We have a squad that's pretty dresdful at shooting all told

Will probably be one stat already identified by Hursts super computer and results passed through to the recruitment team...
We need another holding midfielder..

Is this the same Mani who’s scored 4 goals In over 80 games in the football league?

Mad that people think he’d have been the answer, he scored some vital goals for us but he was a bang average footballer & the National league is his level, a cult hero non the less.

Highlight of the match today was the chat between Matt Dean and Kevin Jobling about Joblings Town career. The stories about Futchenstein and Birtles plus the rather haunting recollections of Joblings various concussions suffered.

I suspect Hursts admission in an interviewbthe other day that he tries ti take no notice of whether a striker scores but rather judges their all round game can explain this to some degree. We are not set up to score but to produce chances, which hopefully score but cost less as a team/squad if that makes sense.

No

Trying cute stepovers in the middle of the park and losing possesion  would not end well .

I would rather have an Emmanuel with a full pre season behind him as our premier right back .
