Green and Morris start. Two holding midfielders at home seems a little strange. Thought Hunt might get a start today but what do I know.

Surely with Green back you get scope to play Hunt or Clifton. Brilliant having that front three but someone needs to supply the ammunition and Green and especially Morris are not going to do that.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

Those two sitting in midfield allows Amos and Efete to push forward and McAtee can sit a bit deeper behind Taylor and Lloyd, which hopefully gets him on the ball more.

That was really good to hear. I’d seen the players have done quite a bit but I didn’t realise it had been organised.

Crawley 2-0 against Rochdale, ultimately probably putting that nail in Rochdale's coffin. Don't think Hartlepool have enough wins in them to pull it round to keep them in the league which would be a shame as they are a proper league club.

I'm glad we're finally being excrement houses (whilst still obeying the laws of the game). Very good game until we scored then Walsall took control. I hope we come out 2nd half as we did the first and get the next goal. Utm

Handbags on the pitch, keeper got the foul off Smith but threw a tantrum and a few handbags, Walsall have another player booked for endlessly harassing the ref afterwards.

Need to get hold of the ball and keep pressuring their goal. Their keeper looks rattled and prone to mistakes, unfortunately they seem to be better at holding up the ball than we do.

Unpopular opinion 4 these short long throws of Maher are a waste of time

Was just about to say the same, just not got the distance and too slow and looping, more of a big normal throw than a long throw

I agree with all 4 opinions. These medium throws aren't working. Why isn't Waterfall closer? Mcatee pass more. Taylor come off please.
Apart from that we're doing OK.

Hurst never seems to utilise his subs

Set in his ways, nearly always around 70 mins, so predictable.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I guess if we aren't winning we can mention that without half the board ripping your head off and telling you Hurst knows what he's doing. Just standing there stoney faced as the clock ticks on then when subs finally happen it's too late to really affect anything.

Then when the sub happens it's the wrong choice  . Players looking tired but Lloyd is not one of them. Green and Morris look fooked.

Crappy goal to concede.  Another bloody corner.  Town played well second half.  Taylor too slow, I am afraid.  Great hold up play but should have at least read Lloyd's cross to get a shot in and a recent one two, he was glued to the spot.  Great player, good bloke but I think his age has caught up with him.

Last season yes he did well and what a header at Wrexham. But he's done absolutely nothing since coming back from injury

Because every team but us can find these huge, athletic players who bully our midgets all the time and we need somebody who can draw them away and battle. If we had some of their defenders we'd probably let in a lot less.

But he doesn't. He doesn't get close to the ball half the time. Lloyd challenged and won a hell of a lot more balls in the air than Taylor but then Lloyd also does the leg work.
Sorry but for me Taylor is offering nothing to town anymore.

Think today highlighted that Taylor is too slow to be effective in this league. He does his thing brilliantly but again like on Tuesday night vs Mansfield the bloke moves like a tank. Hurst will be ironing out who needs to go at the end of the season, I think that Morris played quite well but needs another 5 of them performances to earn himself a contract. We must be ruthless in the summer window to improve on our squad.

Started so well but after we scored and they started playing we were always second best. Seemed to have nothing new, kept trying the same stuff over and over. In some cases unlucky but I don't think we were the better team after the first 30 minutes.

Probably because we played 4 months without him and were absolutely shite for 90% of it. He doesn't seem like he does much, but the battling up front means there's a second ball to play for rather than the defence winning everything when we go long. You must have noticed how much better we've played since he came back in the team.

Didnt think it was too bad again the last few league gamex have been better fair ,at least we dont look scare to reain 'us shape' the whole game , on the flip side it makes us look more vunerable and better teams would punish us .

Thought Morris had a really good game MOTM for me and Green was decent to .

urine poor second half. Never looked liked scoring. McAtee makes so many bad choices although maybe his errors look worse because if they come off they look like genius. I think perhaps he thinks he's better than he really is. Lack of subs from Hurst. They might have made a difference. Draw a fair result with season petering out to nothingness. In a way that actually makes a nice change to be stress free at the tail end of a campaign. Bryn Morris MOM. Well done lad, a kick in the mouth for the boo boys!

The Dunning Kruger effect at play with McAtee for sure. If he reins it in a bit and sticks to the simple stuff then try the classy stuff once in a while it, he will do wonders. Morris MOTM by a mile.  Pinged some lovely long cross field balls.

Typical Paul Hurst

Play well, score, sit back and concede

What was the point in the Khan sub 5 minutes before the end?

Beyond frustrating.

Never been so frustrated at any game for a long while.
Will have to slag Hurst for the first time this season, should have had Hunt and Clifton on in the midfield for the last 15 as Green and Morris had run themselves into the ground.
Needed more up front from the 50th min.
Hursts, excrement game management today.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Across this season Hurst has generally been good using his subs. I assume our ridiculous schedule is in his thinking for not brining on more bodies today. I expect to see some rotation come Crawley. If not I'd be asking some questions - Morris and Green (both excellent today IMO) were shattered in those last 10 mins.

I hope JT asks him about this but my expectation is he'll bottle the question.

Normally I would agree with you, but our games are coming thick and fast. The last game was Wednesday and the next one is Crawley away on Tuesday. There were no injuries stated from Wednesday and Glennon and Holohan didn't make the squad.

Play, a day off, prepare, play and repeat. A relentless cycle for the next few weeks, so players need a rest to recover. They may be athletes but not machines.

Today, he played like an 18 year old. He made awful decisions, I wouldn't go as far as saying he played for himself but he doesn't seem to see the picture like a 23 year old with plenty of experience. There was one occasion when Efete was available and in acres of space running into the box, but he had his head down and shot himself from maybe 25 yards. Efete would have been one on one. I can't fault his graft, but I am not sure he will make the step up two divisions.

In fairness to JT he did ask about subs and sort of touched on squad rotation. I think Hurst knows how to play JT, though, in that he gave a slightly spiky answer about "only talking those who are playing" and pretty much shut down that part of the conversation.

Don’t care, no way will the monkey hangers claw back 15 points in 8 games.  Stayed up ☑️. Money in the bank for squad improvements ☑️. A good chance of retaining the majority of season ticket holders ☑️.  Happy days

Very disappointed that JT needed to have a dig at Morris for giving away the corner that led to the goal. Wasn’t his fault we didn’t defend it and it was possibly his only misstep of the game. He was comfortably MoM today.

Yeah, agreed.

Morris has had a lot of stick lately, but for me, he is a player who will try the difficult, progressive pass, where some players will go for the easier option. When it doesn't come off, the crowd are quick to berate him.

PH said he had encouraged players to not always just clear their lines, but to sometimes take a touch and try to play a pass instead.

Today, it bit Morris on the ar$e.
