The fans were incredible. Both commentators were gobsmacked . Mccoist was superb as always , said he wished he was in there with them . I've seen alot in 43 years but that is right up there .

As an older supporter I was there when we beat Everton home and away and stuffed Liverpool along with teaching Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle a lesson or two. So experienced the era when everyone respected and were wary of Grimsby Town.
Last night I had a tear in my eye listening to the fans because it brought back the absolute joy of watching Town play in those days and reminded me of the amazing fans we have.
My chest is bursting with pride for the players the manager but most of all you nutcases who travelled on a Wednesday night and dared to believe .
Absolutely amazing and make sure you bathe in that joy as it’s a cup run that goes sone in history now win or lose in the next round you were there when Town made history.
Loved it!! Credit to you all. UTM

At the tender age of 17, I joined the RAF and so met people from all over the UK. When people asked where I was from, they immediately knew where it was; because of fish or the Mariners. Despite the obvious yet boring jokes alluding to the name, most people had a modicum of respect for it. As the years wore on, we saw the demise of the fishing industry and people moved away from buying fresh fish and opted for packaged triangular marine life bathed in parsley or some other sauce. As a result, the connection between food and the town diminished. The decline of the club’s status coupled with the focus on the premiership meant only the die-hard fans of smaller clubs have a clue where Grimsby is. These days when I tell someone about my hometown, I get asked, “is that up North?” in a rather disparaging tone.
This morning felt a lot different. Messages rained in from friends in different countries. I browsed the GTFC Facebook page, still basking in the afterglow of our triumph. There were messages of congratulations from all over the globe; even some exotic places, such as Hull. The team has not only done us and the town proud, it’s lifted the spirits of hundreds of thousands of fans from less fashionable places up and down the country. I’ve always been proud of my roots, but the last few decades have been a frustrating one for the region, which was exacerbated by the producers of poverty porn. Now though, with productions like “Three Day Millionaire” and our performance last night, on the pitch and in the stands, it feels like Grimsby is back on the map.

What I love about results like this is the fact that people obviously think about you in particular when they hear the Grimsby score. I got messages from Bees fans during and after the game-everyone wanted us to win. Then there is the Aldershot fan who I've kept in touch with for years, plenty of Donny supporters and a Man Utd fan who lives in the US who I met on the way to an Altrincham game one Sunday about sixteen years ago. The latter is a proud owner of a Town shirt and wears it frequently. He collects football jerseys. Also Mansfield, Hull, Orient, Bradford, Northampton, many Portsmouth and my friends at Harworth Colliery FC among many others, not forgetting Luton. Even Spurs fans gutted at their own defeat. Its so nice that they are genuinely pleased for you. One of the best was 'F******* brilliant. UTFM' from a Donny Rovers fan! When I was working at Heathrow, my friends and colleagues who worked on a Saturday used to look at the Town score between flights knowing I'd be working the next day and a conversation about our game would always be struck. Town's score was apparently the one most sought after!

Think Hurst should name VAR as one of the subs every game, always bring him on if we need a penalty late in the game.
