How many special days/nights has this man brought to this club?

He's a knock out football guru.

Massive well done to him.

He has delivered two promotions, I am sure he will deliver a third but our team under his management have just gone into the FA Cup record books for beating 5 teams from a higher league in a single season. None of my family were even alive when we last got this far.

Thanks for everything, Paul.

Hurst won the style stakes tonight too. To be honest, the match was won in the tunnel pre-match.

Classic Hurst piqued polo paired with stag-do-kitty-man Harrington jacket.

Meanwhile Selles was wearing the sort of dusty, cüm stained, 70% off, Zara coat you’d expect to find hanging off a snapped clothes rail.

Hurst out smarts the Premier league soft lads.

He's the best manager since Sir Alan and deserves a similar moniker.

Get us to the second division playing beautiful football. I'd happily Knight Paul right now though.

It’s sacrilege to compare anyone to Lord Buckley but I do think that one more promotion and Hurst over takes him.

He has his detractors, quite how I’ll never know but he does but just watch that post match interview, tears in his eyes. He gets it.

We’ll be excrement for a time, we’ll be good for a time but I can honestly say I’ve never felt in safer hands that with Hurst at the helm…

Not sure I can see much sense in trying to compare Hurst and Buckley - different eras and now it's a different game (e.g. VAR).

Alan Buckley was great for us, and Paul Hurst is great for us now... I can leave it at that, personally.

Buckley . Promotion to the championship twice
First ever Wembley appearance and won in front of 30.000 town fans .
Kept us in the the championship competing well for many seasons .

That's the tip of AB's ice berg really

Hurst has a long long way to go to be compared

Agree with this, different eras, different levels in the pyramid, different set of variables. Why cant we have one Sir and one El General.

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

For those saying you can’t compare Hurst and Buckley, it’s obvious you fools. Both are less than 5ft 5inches tall

And on that point, I’d like to propose a policy, that never again do we employ a manager taller than 5ft 5inches tall.

What a year we’ve had under him. Slightly disappointing league performance so far but you can’t grumble when we will be safe back in the league and have had this cup run.

Buckley got the same when we was playing that terrible tippy tappy football in the second tier for ten years 😂
Mangers don’t become legends until long after they’ve retired but I’m sure Hursty has bar waiting to be named after him in the new ground one when it finally gets built ( I just hope both he and I are alive to see it )

This year was always going to be transitional in nature, however carried away (myself absolutely included) people got after the events of May and June. This cup run now catapults us in the right direction, and after two decades of mostly despair, I can see nothing but good times ahead for us.

Just unbelievable.

Absolutely. It more than maintains the euphoria from June, it’s building on it. Fenty has been paid off, our national profile has risen substantially in the last year and we’ve got a huge pay day from this cup run. You couldn’t ask for better timing of good luck than we’ve had in the last 9 months and I trust we have the right people at the club to make the most of it.

Onwards and at fooking last, upwards.

Legend status confirmed last night. Our greatest post-war manager in cups.

What a turnaround he’s had since Scunny and Ipswich. He probably can’t believe how it’s gone himself and he’s largely in control of it all. He looks so happy on Breakfast.

For me, whatever happens with the rest of the season at this point, the guy needs a break from the constant scrutiny. Under his watch, as said, some extremely special games have happened. The guy deserves the respect at this point.

I'm 100% behind this, because when the kids ask me 'dad, how come you never managed Grimsby, you always talk like you know everything about football'   I can say it's the height thing and not have to admit I'm just a gobby charlatan

Absolutely loved Sir Alan but Paul has given me more amazing moments as a fan, like last night than Buckley did. The level they both managed at is an irrelevance in that case. 2 promotions and an FA Cup quarter final speaks for itself, and if one thing is for certain, Paul Hurst isn’t done yet!

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"
