As much as I cant stand Shrek, Rooney's overheader vs Man City still has to go down as one of the best. Moving away from the goal and on the volley too. Volleys need more skill than controlling first as it has to be a perfect connection.

Absolutely incredible player.

With any player there's always a what if.  With Maradona, how good/long could he have gone on if he wasn't coked up to his eyeballs, Messi could have led Argentina to more if he had actually cared about playing for them earlier in his career, Ronaldo if he had figured out how to be a team player, Pele if he had played in Europe...

Bale was, for my money anyway, the best player in the world for a period.  It just so happens that it was at the time when there was an obsession with Messi/Ronaldo and there was no chance that anyone was ever going to be crowned when they were around.

Take away the golf jibes, take away the way his career fizzled out, take away the fact he hates England...he's without shadow of a doubt the best player to emerge from these shores.  Potentially the likes of Rooney, Best, Gazza et al. should have maybe held that title and done more with their careers, but they didn't.

As you've opened up the thread to English players there can only be one for me. A truly fantastic player whom I unfortunately never saw play. An international player and Grimsby icon.

Is this the parallel universe version of "I didn't go today, but it was excrement" on every Just Back thread?

Whatever it came off, its still a corker. I only said it was an overheader, not an overhead kick. Maybe, then, it is the best ever overhead shin?

About 600,000 pound a week at Real Madrid and he spent months just collecting his pay cheque and not bothered if he ever played for them again.

I don't know !!!!

I would have not played for them for half of that.

I think for overhead kicks this is the best one I've seen from Ronaldinho 👑:

Adrian Forbes against Barnet was the best one

Had a bit of pedigree eg two under 18 caps for England and done quite well at Norwich. Need to see it though to see if stands up to "o rei" (the king in Portuguese) Ronaldinho's one though   .
