As we’ve not been in the 3rd tier for what 18 years can you explain what timeline you’d expect us to get there?

How long is a piece of string? I would expect a very serious promotion challenge next season.

The problem we face is that there’s possibly a dozen plus clubs in L2 with the same ambition, most of whom are further down the road to achieving it than we’ll be.

A lot of our improvements in terms of footballing staff aren't giving us an advantage, they are things that most teams at this level are doing.

1878 aren't throwing loads of money at it, I think the business model will ultimately revolve around selling players for profit to fund progression. Unfortunately we are at a standing start on that because £1m has come in over the last 18 months and all of it has gone to Fenty.

The reality is that we are ahead of schedule, players like Holohan and JMD were signed last season to help us challenge in the National League this season. By the time we got promoted, we were a month behind which will have seriously hampered recruitment.

My expectation for next season is to improve on wherever we finish this season.

A clubs fortunes can be turned round fairly quickly e.g. Barrow & Stevenage so there should be no reason why that should not be us next season. The signings of two or three quality players at this level can soon change your results. What we must avoid is losing momentum and given our recent run of results, and the poor quality of football played in home matches, is probably more likely than signing the quality players!!

Genuine question - is there a schedule or is it just something made up by people who are quite happy to plod along season after season?

Hurst said in his pre-match interview before last night that we got promoted quicker than expected. Stockwood also said the same on RH last night so we are definitely ahead of their schedule, plan or whatever you want to call it.

Agree, not wishing to start another debate that’s already well in flight but interesting that both Stevenage & Barrow had new managers this season.

I guess the “schedule” was to get back into the EFL and not L1 or the championship?
