According to the BBC, talks may be held to form a new Super European League. I was under the impression that it was dead and buried, but this is not the case. Bernd Reichart of A22 Sports Management is trying to resurrect it. I hope he fails and the Europen Courts ban it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63334283

Not a chance. Too much money and prestige at stake and I've been predicting a Super League for years.

This will never go away. Those in power are never satisfied, and always want ever more. Across Europe, many of the top teams envy the income generation of the Premier League and seek to find a way to match or better it.
This is a struggle that will never go away, and the expansion of the Champions League was merely a sop to buy time.
I would prefer to see the opposite of their wishes- restore the Champions League/ European Cup back to the winners of their respective league. It’s already a farce seeing fourth placed teams gain entry.

Combine Spain, Italy and Portugal top flights as they are all culturally and linguistically close, with promotion and relegation. Keep England, Germany. France can do what they want they only have one team anyway. Champions League stays as is. Our teams win a bit less, but no big deal.

Its been driven by the top european teams, because the English clubs are dominating in Europe, no Heysel disater to stop them this time, they need a bigger slice of the TV revenue Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus remain wedded to the idea of a Super League, I wonder why. oh because they a riddled with debt. European clubs with the most debt Let’s take a look at the full list of the most debt-ridden sides in Europe. # Club League Debt 1 Barcelona La Liga €1.35B 2 Juventus Serie A €900M 3 Tottenham Premier League €826M 4 Inter Serie A €702M 5 AC Milan Serie A €666M 6 Real Madrid La Liga €662M 7 Arsenal Premier League €625M 8 Atletico Madrid La Liga €523M 9 Manchester United Premier League €450M 10 Liverpool Premier League €386M

It looks to me like the big banks want a super league, saddle the clubs with more debt and sit back to collect the service charge interest.

But would it be such a bad thing?
Let them go, let subscription TV have big wnak over it and fans of proper community clubs in the EFL can just ignore them. I mostly ignore the Premiership now anyway.
Promote 6 clubs from the National League, bring in more stringent ownership rules and go back to League Divisions 1 to 4. Have proper cup competition, a fair TV deal with money shared much more evenly. Go back to the old European Cup format for clubs and country champions outside the Super League.
