I spent a few weeks working voluntarily on the fanzone last closed season and I have only managed to get in a couple of times.

Not complaining as I realise it's a victim of it's own success and you have to be in earlier than I want to rock up at the ground. It has a fire limit, which was increased this close season, but it soon fills up and most don't leave once inside.

I’m not too fussed myself as I am not a fan of Docks beers or high priced food.

But that’s because I’m a silly old git who is stuck in his ways.
The Zone has proved to be a great success and that can only be good for the club.
The youngsters seem quite happy to pay the prices and I must say the quality is much improved from the general pukka pie etc.   Those moaning about not being able to get in should remember, it’s an addition . So you haven’t lost out on something. It has t replaced where you used to go. So really, there is em nothing to moan about.

Whatever happened to the good old days. A few pints in the Dolphin whilst goading the away fans in the Vic. 😉

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Many options to help speed up service:

Bottles only no draught beer : people would complain

Pre order drinks : people complain that their pint is flat as they don’t have the requisite of a 21.7364827271mm head on the pint

At rugby they have people walking around with beer ‘jet packs’ to speed up service ( http://www.jetpacks.com/brand-your-drinks-dispenser/ ) : only really useful for a couple of hours pre match and at half time

Have something like paella/chilli/spag bol/stew etc that can be cooked in huge pans and quickly served : people complain that it’s not vegetarian/halal/wagyu steak etc

The fact of the matter is, it’s a pain in the ar5e  that you can’t have a pint while watching the football! And people like to moan!

I think you’ll find that since Brexit, the requisite has changed to 21.7364827272mm - bloody tories!

Would a bottle bar also be worthwhile in the fan zone? Still keep the main bar area with the pumps but maybe have a bottle bar aswell which of course serves only bottles,  that would alleviate the queue somewhat

Whilst not a veggie I was surprised at the lack of veggie option…

They’ve designed a gourmet chicken pie specifically for the veggies ffs

As I said, once in, folk don’t tend to leave which makes total sense, which is why I rarely make an effort to go in. I enjoy going in Docks’ taproom so not too disappointed I can’t get a decent ale before the match.

I do think the work carried out voluntarily is appreciated though and perhaps that’s added to its popularity?

I think it’s a great addition and something the club Shiism be proud of. I know fans of other clubs similar to town who’ve said they’d love something similar at their club.

It’s also about choice; want good, locally brewed ale, Bob in there. Want urine lager, use the wheelhouse gaff, want a mixture of stuff, trust bar, want something else? Get a membership at the cons or New Imp club or go in the Blundell…

Us vegetarians are not being considered at all. Have ONE vegetarian option pie FFS. It's 2022.

Reminds me of when I dated a lass from Golcar near Huddersfield many years ago, she was vegetarian and in those days it was just nut cutlet or vegetable pie.
We were walking up in the hills on the Colne Valley and called in a pub, lovely log fire and the split of Amos Brearly behind the bar, muttonchops and all.
(younger members will probably need google)
I looked at the blackboard menu and within seconds plumped for the steak pie and a pint of Thwaites.
Sue asked what the vegetarian options were and looking behind him at the menu said
"Choose what tha wants lass and I'll tek fuckin meat off for thee"

I guess this all adds up to the fact that we're out growing BP aren't we?  Certainly in its the current state anyway.

When people mention the empty units on Imperial Ave, where are these?  All I can think of is the the small unit (which I'm sure is occupied by a plumbing company) just before the old Imp carpark, probably just about opposite the entrance to McDonalds.
