Obviously a heat affected game, stand outs were Efete bossing Vernam, a lad falling over the fence trying to head the ball from the Lower and McAtee being McAtee.

Green is a physical presence in centre midfield, Morris very tidy and Glennon is certainly an upgrade on Amos. Hard to judge Orsi who worked hard with little service. We looked more of a threat when Holohan replaced Green, so the manager may look at different options for different opponents.

Nice to be back at BP, pitch looks amazing.

Interesting analysis on Efete. I thought he looked a threat pushing on but susceptible defensively.

Efete suffers from Toto syndrome with fans…people claim he’s not great defensively and prone to a mistake but they rarely come…dominated tonight and showed why Vernam has become a journeyman…

Vernam flattered to deceive tonight. Efete possibly caused him to defend more than he would have liked.

He certainly causes wingers to keep an eye over their shoulder. If I was playing right centre back for Town (age, ability, fitness, not being able to put my socks on without curling like a snake on the bed aside) I would prefer Cropper alongside me. However the midfielders and attackers of Town probably prefer the outlet of Efete.

In a normal game their player would have at least got a yellow for pulling our player back when he was on goal.

Thought we slightly edged it, particularly second half.

It was colder in the Lower bar than outside tonight which is a complete turnaround.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Post match interview:
  • Pleased with performance.
  • Players not where they need to be fitness-wise yet.
  • Khan will be out 'for a while', doesn't sound great.
  • Green was ill at the weekend and is a bit behind on fitness.
  • Taylor back on the grass on Thursday.  Might be in contention for Orient, but more likely to be Orsi starting.
  • Amos tweaked his ankle, doesn't seem too bad.
  • Maher is feeling okay; he's optimistic.

Think the heat prevented the game from being a full on competitive friendly but still a very worthwhile workout. Struggle to understand the comments re Efete defensively as I am struggling to remember him making a big mistake leading to a goal and whilst Vernam turned him a couple of times tonight I think that should be expected given Vernam’s key strength is his dribbling. Glennon got stronger as the game wore on as Lincoln hit a high number of long balls into his area first half but thought he coped fine with this. Midfield two were obviously playing together for the first time and thought that showed which is not surprising. Green certainly competitive and thought both he and Morris did excellent work defensively on those odd occasions when Lincoln did look threatening. Morris looks like a footballer, calm and comfortable in possession rarely gave the ball away and trusted teammates under pressure to receive the ball and move it on. Only criticism is that they both played a bit deep and this meant we were a bit lacking in numbers going forward.

Attack wise biggest problem is the lack of pace in wide positions and Orsi looks like someone who would play alongside a target man rather than play that role himself. Early days and these are observations based on one friendly played in extreme heat so plenty of time for players to settle and gel.

Based on tonight’s showing I would like to see a pacy sideman, could that be Khan, and a more physical number nine who can hold the ball and bring the best out of others up front, basically a younger version of Taylor who we missed tonight.

Based on tonight’s line up alone we won’t concede easily but scoring may be a challenge.

Wasn’t there, but of the signings we’ve made, Maher and Glennon are defenders, Green and Morris defensive midfielders, Orsi a striker and Khan injured. So one player out there tonight in an attacking mould, against higher league opposition.

We are very much incomplete in the attacking sense. There’s time for that to change.
