Last week someone mentioned to me the new sponsors had something to do with the green energy sector, I guess we will find out very very soon.

They dont supply energy do they? As far as I knew they make gadgets to best utilise the power you produce through solar panels or wind turbines

From a quick Google about £17m turnover compared to Young’s £500m, so a fairly small fish, if you pardon the pun. I’m interested to see the structure of the deal.

Wonder if the sponsor will say Europe’s green town…
The billboard is black and white stripes, with a white panel on the front and the words GREEN TOWN in the panel, just like a footy shirt. At the bottom of the billboard is the date of 10 06 22, so I imagine we will find out tomorrow what's occurring. It's a little known fact, but GY is one of the greenest towns in the country.

projected c £25 million turnover this financial year. Local business run by people who are either local, who are based in area. Sorry to be sexist, but she's quite a stunner! They make products which allow those with solar or wind power to use the energy they generate to utilise it in their own premises, rather than sell any surplus (which is at a shiite rate) to the energy companies (I stand ready to be corrected by posters who actually know what they're talking about!)

When I did safety related work for them out at Binbrook, they were manufacturing electric car charging points from component parts to finished article.
I think they now have a presence in at least 6 countries and are expanding more each year.
Waiting to expand premises at the new Stallingborough Business Park as far as I can see.
Skilful work, combined with high technology and forward thinking R & D !
I could see that they were going places.

A good idea to give the user more control over the output of their solar panels. As long as the hardware is reliable and the software is kept secure, up to date and without serious bugs, you can see why they are doing well. The only issue might occur if one of the big manufacturers tried to eat their lunch, so to speak and produce their own equivalents of the hardware and software. More likely that they would be bought out for their technology stack, however.
Must admit that I'd never heard of them before and had no idea that they were local, but that's not surprising considering I don't have solar panels on my house or an electric vehicle of any sort!

early next month eh? Just days after players' contracts expire and you tend to get a rash of signings. Surely they can't have delayed it , as part of a planned marketing campaign, to coincide with the signing of a player, ? (Ryan Bennett in the new Town shirt

You say that but the Telegraph website is so bad, I was half way through reading a quote from Stockwood about ending the Young’s partnership when, without warning, it kicked me over to a different article as I attempted to scroll. I thought “fúck me, he’s lost it a bit there”…

I hope the club was paid upfront for this sponsorship , I have a funny feeling about this one 🧐
You have a funny feeling about a deal with one of the biggest local businesses and one of the fastest growing companies?

Kit not released until early next month according to telegraph article - with no green on sponsor either.
Are you sure? This quote from the GT article says to me that there will be green on the sponsor logo...
Quoted Text
And you’d anticipate all will be keen to blow the seafaring superstition of the colour green being unlucky out of the water, as the black and white stripes welcome Myenergi’s palette, no matter how subtle.

Anyone would think it stunk of Jarvis in 2003, the way you're talking. For a start, rail maintenance is hardly a booming industry. Their marketing strategy seems quite aggressive as they sponsor Jenson Buttons racing team and with the sale of petrol and diesel cars set to end by 2030 plus the current of cost of fuel, they operate in a much needed industry. This deal has clearly been signed off by at least one of the company founders and not an employee like Jarvis was. I have a funny feeling about this one too. I have a funny feeling that by the end of this sponsorship, we will have one of the biggest names in green energy on our shirt.

About 15 years ago I was working at ASDA head office. We had just completed a large fish supply deal with Youngs, and wanted some PR filming and photos on a trawler in the docks. All the material including a huge flag with the famous ASDA green logo was sorted…. We had to change all of it to remove any green before being allowed onto the boat! I’m not too superstitious but maybe this tradition can move a little, I don’t know. Wishing this new deal well. (Didn’t Nigel Batch sometimes wear a green top?)

Ironic that "Myenergi" are our new sponsors given we had to play three play-off games including extra time to get promoted.

That's not about openness. It's about business. Myenergi are probably as keen as anyone else to keep it under wraps. If word gets out that they're sponsoring us for (and this is a complete figure out the air) £250k, then they've set the standard for all future sponsorship deals they want to partake in. Likewise if this deal runs a year, both parties decide to go their separate ways we've told the world what our previous deal was worth and they know where to pitch.

Absolutely. Zappi consistently comes up as one of the better home chargers for EV's in field tests. The number of EV's on the road is soaring - there's wait lists over a year for them at the minute. With that the on-road infrastructure is miles and miles behind, simply put there isn't enough public charging points to cope. Also they're getting more and more expensive to use, not quite at petrol prices but certainly stretching the financial savings you want from having a EV. That means more people want home chargers. Their trajectory is definitely pointing upwards.

Perhaps it being a little known fact is a bonus,if word gets out Grera Thunberg would most likely want to live here.

I am a rational educated person ((allegedly) but green makes me nervous. My family fishing roots go back to 1850’s. My father had a motor dealership for 30 years and when the manufacturers sent green cars he sent them back. I shall not be sleeping easy tonight.

Just watched the promotional video about the club and myenergi and am amazed at the transformation that has been achieved by our owners and sponsors and how the club has been transformed from how it was 2 years ago. Onwards and upwards. UTM

Wish we could get over the 'green is unlucky' nonsense, this might have had some superstitious fact when we actually had a fishing fleet out of Grimsby, we have next to no fleet now, most of our fish comes overland from Scotland, so unless the green bad luck thing extends to the football team, i personally think its time to put it to rest.I accept plenty will disagree though.

Stockwood said that Youngs, who also meet the above criteria, will still have a big part to play so I wonder what that will be? They deserve great credit for sticking with the club during its worst years, knowing full well that we would never go anywhere with Fenty in charge. I hope they get some of the reflected glory if things continue to go well.

I think there will be joint initiatives. I think this has been in the making for a very long time, the club did that programming course that guaranteed an interview with myEnergi last year for example.
