If we had a bigger stadium i would of thought we could of got 12000 plus. Do we need to push on for a new stadium. Potentially 60-75000 pounds lost today.

Yes we do need a new stadium as the current one puts a lot of casual fans off, however, let’s concentrate on the team for now

In a word, no.
Whilst I’m aware they were buying ST seats to sell on again, how many did they actually resell?
It’s a rare occasion and whilst I understand the sentiment and the desperation from some to have a new stadium, it’s not part of the short and medium term plans.
Let’s remove the Fenty mindset and obsessing over a new stadium and enjoy a one off full stadium and a good win.
Next home game we’ll be down to 5000 again…

It would take a lot of £75000’s to pay for a new stadium. And at 6 or 7 times a season at the moment it will not be a priority I’m afraid.

With a too bigger ground, you wouldnt get the atmosphere. Lets get back in the EFL first, get a settled team, mainly with contracts, and take it from there once we are established. The Town isnt really big enough for full houses of 12,000, and i dont want us to end up like Darlington, I liked the idea and plans of Tom Shutes for the Docks, its a matter of whether we need to draw in extra income for use of the ground, which i am against, but it needs to be paid for, and things arent cheap nowadays. I would be sorry to see the end of Blundell Park, 60 years of fond memories, and hopefully i may get to see the new ground before the ground takes me.

Yes of course we need a bigger shinier stadium but we need more sell outs like yesterday to justify it. For to long this club as looked inward for its revenue and been quite happy taking from the loyal 4000 Hopefully the new brush with all the exciting ideas they have will see those 3000 empty seats and think if only we could have people sitting in them on a regular basis the extra revenue that can be generated through bar/ food sales extra merchandising.more people in the park more sponsorships opportunities

How many games do we miss out an extra £60-75k per season? A stadium will cost 200x... I'd be more concerned with the reasons why we limited Stockport to 1400 tickets to lose out on about £10k of income in a stadium we don't owe money for and why the "red zone" behind the dugouts is so large.

To be fair, if the demand was there they could just wack up temporary seats like we used to have.

Back in the day, we consistently had gates of 11,000 plus and the town’s population was less in those days. So certainly possible. You only have to look at Lincoln, with a bit of success and gates of 9,000, and Lincoln’s a similar size.

I said in another thread something of a similiar note, but I think the attendances of the late 90s early 2000s are irrelevant now, I think factors such as going to all seating, the general drop in all of football attendances in that era, the rise of the premier league and football league status and the level we were at being taken for granted, meant a steady decline in our attendances to the low of our first season down in none league.
However, once we hit that low, attendances have been slowly rising up. Even though in our short return to league two we were pretty crap overall and fenty did very little to improve the matchday experience, that level maintained. Now with new owners and an improved matchday experience that number has climbed again, and I think with them doing more in every area as they are to improve all things town, and hopefully more success on the pitch, we could break a 6k average attendance within the next 5 years and that would be the first time since 01-02. Maintain that growth and if we then built a smart modern stadium with a great match experience that holds say 12,000, make it expandable just incase anything crazy happens, but I dont think an average attendance in the 8k's even 9s, you dont have to fill it every week youre still getting double the average attendances we have been previously, and then if we get big cup games which would be more frequent at a higher level, then you get the full house amazing atmosphere games.
But I think theyre doing it the right way, and I think if we do ever have the kinds of success that will require a new stadium these guys would get the deal over the line, so im glad we didnt get the fentydome and blundell park is perfect for now

Did they sisal to the club about the resale tickets? And to be honest, they’ve had two weeks to get a ticket…if people wanted to be there they would’ve been…

I'm local but didn't make the game cos I'd have wanted to get 3 seats together (for me, my son and my grandad) so not sure if the resold season tickets would've been much help to me.
on a side note how many of our capacity is restricted seats? because I know a lot of people won't want to buy them unless absolutely desperate

I think we need a new ground but there are other pressing priorities at the moment that need to be done in order of importance like getting back into the EFL and having a training ground that is fit for purpose.

I think that a new stadium is going to be 5+ years away, but lets face it, the current state of parts of BP are embarrassing, we have to do something in the short term. If anyone watches the big match revisited on Saturday morning, its basically from 1981, which I believe is the year the findus stand was built, some of the stadiums like Barnsleys were as embarrassing then as BP is now, yet look at them now. Our stadium hasn't changed since the findus was built, gass barrier apart and removal of the corners to make us look even more tin pot. Of course i'm not a structural engineer, but surely there must be a way for the removal of Victorian pillars in our stands and maybe a new facia for the laughable back of the main stand. As a proud Grimbarian born and bred, I am so tired of us being called a dump, I now a lot of parts of the town are, but even if a tart up of BP is only for 5 - 10 years It would make a few of us older ones, who might never see a new stadium, happy UTM

Sorry if this has been answered already, but does anyone have a bit of clarification as to why we put in a charge to Companies House for a Stadia Improvement fund on April 8th? Was that something of nothing?

Good points there Pete. I think since the seating in the corners was taken out the stadium has gotten worse. In 2022 we are worse than in 1981! The owners will be gaining information all the time as to what is the best course of action to take, but I fully agree they should give BP as much a facelift as can be afforded, by making use of any grants or whatever help might be available to give us 5-10 years of pride. For all its faults I love BP but it would be great if we can improve it for the short and medium term whilst the owners see where their longer term plans lie.

Building styles have changed and I imagine it would cost a fortune to remove the pillars and have a safe roof. Acoustically, the Main Stand is superb and if we replaced the roof I imagine it would point up rather than up and then down onto the pitch which is what makes the acoustics so good when it's rocking. I would be interested to know more about this grant money on Companies House. Hopefully that is being spent on disabled supporters and toilet facilities as a priority but if it stretches to some corner seating then even better. The Main Stand toilets in particular are disgusting, 1 sink to about 16 urinal spaces which only has cold water and always runs out of soap. On the back of a pandemic, it doesn't really promote good hygiene does it?

James, while I agree with you that replacement of the main/Osmond roofs would have a large cost, i think the point LCL made about obtaining grants could be an answer, very few clubs these days have the 'downward' style of roof because of the need for pillars and the obvious knock on problems with restricted views they cause, not sure about the ' rocking' main stand either! I remember having a letter printed in the GET jn 1994 asking for information about what is happening with a new stadium, here we are 28 years later no further forward, with a ground becoming increasingly decrepit, we just have to do something for BP for possibly the next decade , as you rightly point out archaic facilities in 2022 when you are asking for GBP 22+ just isn't on.

We definitely need to maximise grants but I'm not sure we could get one to cover the total cost of replacing the roof. Still, every little helps I guess. I would love to see us remain at a modernised BP for many years to come. I think issues around parking can be improved but I'm not sure the local residents would approve of the Main Stand and Findus being extended plus the corners being filled in too. I get the argument around not spending loads of money on it if we intend to move but like you said, that's been the approach for the last 3 decades and we are still here so it really does need some money spending on it. With rising inflation, it's not unrealistic to think that tickets will cost over £25 in another couple of years.
