He might be able to walk away from the boardroom but surely as sole owner of both the ground and club he can’t walk from his financial responsibility

Is this step one of his route to sell off the land the stadium is on? His commitment to the club diminishes everyday and it makes more easier for him to remove himself entirely and take more commercial minded decisions. He could say that to keep the ground will cost you £11m or I’ll give you notice to quit and sell it for residential development.

No statement from Peter himself.

He’s a mute Swan.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

So being some Football Chairman is not his ilk. This crutch took Gainsborough Trinity to the near reaches of getting into the Football Conference, only to leave them struggling after his false money failed to achieve EFL status.

I am worried, that after falling for the Mariners that glorious August Saturday in 1971 when Matt Tees buried the ball from a header at the Osmond end against the Scunts, that although they were lucky, finishing bottom of the Football League in 74-75, this time they will be relegated.

Swann seems to have done a runner? Leaving the club with no assets? I doubt now that they will be a viable club outside of the EFL. Having seen what the Conference did to Boston United when they were relegated, I cannot see them getting into the Conference.

We will have to live on our memories of playing them for some considerable time I think. I did not think that day in August 71 I would never get the chance to seem my team beat our nearest rivals play again!

So long iron, long may my memory live!
