Did their polish cousin, Pintov make it over?

Am sure there’s been plenty of ex internationals played. Don’t know the line up when we played Liverpool reserves in the 80s but there must’ve been some quality in there.

I think that liverpool game was around 1988? Probably one of our highest attendances that season (4000?). they smashed us and I think maybe John Wark and Craig Johnstone played.

That away game he was unplayable. They had a great team if I remember rightly with a young Peter crouch up front.

The day was roasting on the seats in the open corner. Got sun burnt in the process

it wasn't a bad way to see us get dikked

great quote from Crouch - He'd smoke before the game, at half-time in the showers and after the game as well. Red Marlboros, too. The real heavy stuff." Crouch also mentioned: "I think I scored about 19 goals that season and he put pretty much every single one on a plate for me. He didn't speak much, but you knew he understood far more than he was letting on. You could speak to him one-on-one and he'd answer in perfect English, but as soon as you told him to track back, he'd reply: 'I don't understand.'
— Peter Crouch talks about Prosinečki

that pompey squad had some bloody decent players in it (including Jason Crowe!)

Didn't we lose 4-2 and we may have finished with 10? Mike Jeffrey scored too. You're right it was boiling. I think the other bloke up front for them was quite useful too, can't remember who it was though.

Think it was Mark Burchill

The other fella was Scottish, can’t remember his name. Mark Burchill or something like that? Had been at Celtic as a kid.

Danny Butterfield scored a decent goal for that day - it was scorching in the open end and Prosinecki ran the game from the centre circle. Absolute class

Mark Burchill, recently of Celtic at the time. Quite a team they had out that day.

Quoted from promotion plaice

World Cup winner and MOTM in the 66 Final (imo) Alan Ball when he played for Southampton.

Wasn't it his dad that someone in the Main Stand belted him one as he went down the tunnel in an FA Cup game we drew or did he belt a fan? We then went to Preston in the replay where Alan Gauden scored the only goal of the game. I know we went mental when he scored.

Wasn't the next round against Coventry or is my mind playing  tricks.
