I actually thought he gave a fair summary of the game. For 30 mins they ran at us and caused loads of problems, then we just clicked and got it right. He said pretty much tha himself.

I have to admit, I thought the same and felt he came across as a pretty decent bloke. A former colleague of Graham Potter at Osterunds.

I have seen a few of his interviews, he always comes across as a measured and decent guy to me. For me Notts play the best football in the league but I am not sure the way to escape this league. Stockpot and Chesterfield have more potent forwards and this is the difference

I think the football ‘Stockpot’ play is just gravy.

I don't get why people get so wound up about what the opposition manager or players say ? . They are obviously going to big up their own . It's almost as if some people in Grimsby have a defeatist attitude . Panto villains like Harry Pell still get under your skin . Let go

Stockpot was deliberate, in the Coronation Street style but I could not think of a suitable name for Chesterfield, but now and not original I shall call them Chesterfurlough

Short version. They had an insurance policy in place which offered them protection in case of a loss of revenue in certain circumstances, for instance a reduction in gate receipts due to a major recession.

When the insurance company refused to pay out when Covid struck, Chesterfield successfully took them to court and were forced to pay out. This meant that they were able to furlough their players whilst matches weren’t taking place, benefit from grants that were handed out to National League clubs, and still benefited from a close to normal income whilst most other clubs were decimated.

Ultimately they benefited from a policy which was probably taken out for other reasons, but credit to them for having taken steps to protect themselves financially regardless. They haven’t broken any laws, they just had an unexpected windfall by virtue of being generally prudent. In Tshimanga alone they’ve invested some of that money well. They haven’t done anything wrong, and so I think it’s unfair to resent them for it.

It’s unfortunate for Town, especially given the money already sloshing around in this league already. But at the end of the day if we hadn’t managed the pandemic so disastrously in the first place we probably wouldn’t be in this league right now and wouldn’t be giving it a moment’s thought.

It's a bit dodgy to claim furlough money whilst getting an insurance payout at the end of the season. Well, not dodgy per se, just a little unfair that their promotion push is effectively being funded by the government.

Some companies paid back the furlough money when they had a boost in income - I wouldn't expect a 5th tier football club to do so, of course!

Yeah, the likes of IKEA and other businesses of that ilk did after their profits massively increased during the pandemic. Whether that was purely borne of good moral standing or it was a necessary PR exercise in the long-term best interest of those organisations, it’s hard to say.

But when you’re a non-league football club scrapping it out to survive, you do what’s in your own best interests, so long as it remains within the confines of the law.
