Quoted from IlkleyMariner
Not impressed with what England are doing.  Ok just keep passing the ball to each other but how much have the fans paid to watch this?

Exactly this.

We play against poor side who put 10 behind the ball, and Southgate sticks with 2 centre backs throughout, and also only 1 centre forward throughout.  The games against the weaker nations are ideal chance to try something more radical, but instead, pass pass pass.

4 at the back, Henderson just in front of them, pointless game. Very boring.

There was a moment kane drifted deep and played a ball forward to.... no-one zzzzzz

We could have played without a keeper too!

11 players who had never played with each other in a game versus a side that get numbers behind the ball, never going to be a goal fest but I think some of the play was probably a bot too over elaborate.

It's a qualifier winning it with a few goals isn't that bad a result.

A bit of a boring game, to say the least. I was hoping for a bit more from the 2nd XI, truth be told, but we looked pretty clueless at times until the subs came on.

Qualification seems almost like a procession these days which, on the one hand, probably isn't a bad thing, but on the other, doesn't tend to make many of the games very exciting.

I'm in agreement that Southgate should perhaps have tried something a bit different with the formation but I suppose his logic must be that if the team always plays in much the same way, the backup players can just slot into the formation if called upon.

Expecting a performance with that team restored after a poor game at the weekend but Poland seem to have already done more than Hungary did.

This German ref looks like he hasn't got over us knocking them out of the Euros.

Some very one sided refereeing so far.

Must be feeling guilty about what his great grandparents did.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
