Does this mean that Town fans will have had the longest wait of all clubs in England to attend one of their team’s games?

For the record, we don’t know how many players have tested positive, how many players haven’t been vaccinated and how many of those who have tested positive are currently unvaccinated. We won’t be finding out either, so any anger or frustration is probably best reserved for when the football, eventually, begins.

Covid is still out there, less dangerous for most of us though it now is. Whilst daily cases remain in their tens of thousands, this will be a recurring occurrence this season. Delta does not respect Covid protocols. We’ll gain nothing by going looking for blame.

My sympathy goes out to anyone who stands to lose money as a result of this postponement.

One wonders how stuff gets out given that it was all over the very transparent Twitter last night.

Grimsby is a very small town.

from Debbie's interview i deduced we have a large number who are positive

Yes, I think she would have been a lot more transparent if we had 1 or 2 positive cases.

Whilst the dart board may be gone, is the table tennis bat being sanitised after every use?

I know you're being tongue in cheek, but this virus is airborne. Transmission by touching things which have been coughed/sneezed on is probably a pretty much negligible risk, but you can catch it if somebody breathes on you from reasonably close in or by spending time in a room where somebody has been breathing (without a mask) for a while. Out in Australia they are being very detailed in their investigations of cases (something they can do because of the relatively low number):

https://twitter.com/JOHNJOHNSTONED/status/1427462314425344001

They know of a case where one kid gave it to another one simply from walking home together (I think they are sequencing the samples so they know they are a genetic match) and also think they may have cases where kids have transmitted it by playing together in the playground.

This being the case, it's likely that it will be possible to catch it from a teammate in training even if you are being careful indoors or from an opponent during a game. The large crowds at football grounds will also have bumped up infection rates, as will the mingling in pubs before and after games. It will be a bit like a mini Euro 2020 in effect, I'd guess. Whether the numbers will be a large enough bump to show up specifically in the numbers remains to be seen.

Does that mean we won't be bottom of the league on Saturday night, as we will have a better goal difference than those teams that lose?

And it's this kind of optimism that makes us Grimsby folk special....

Unless every game played is a scoring draw, but even then Yeovil would be bottom alphabetically.

Unless all the others draw? We would be below Bromley on alphabetical order.

Oops. Forgot about Dover.
