We're going to need 4 centre halves. We've got 2, one is too young and one is probably on his way out. So we've got to get a balanced side. Will Pearson play week in week out - probably not, but will he be really useful as part of a squad, almost certainly.

This isn't a marquee signings, it's just another piece of the jigsaw.

Hurst may be many things but sentimental isn’t one of them. If he re-signs a player then it is because it is a short cut to getting what he wants. Like I said before he is building a unit, not a National League All Stars XI .

Pearson is a known quality, and someone who knows the NL and the big plus is that he does not need to be told what to do. He is already on the PH wavelength. Character does matter, on and off the field, if you are trying to build a squad that plays for each other.

I hope we see signings that stir the blood a bit more but this is exactly what I would expect from Hurst.
