I interpreted it as they’d be paying off those under contract regardless of them wanting to sit on their contracts

I took it as he'd told them they'd be training on their own and not in his plans so should find another club but won't be paid up. As a starting point for negotiations it wouldn't be a great move to say 'if you don't leave of your own choice we'll pay up your contract in full'. Suspect we'll end up meeting in the middle and give them something to go and then they'll try to get sorted.

Correct. I’ve seen us lose that final twice, and it’s
Embarrassing we’re down at that level.
