Ok, New start, new beginnings.

Being a season ticket holder for the last 20yrs and I will continue to be a ST holder, I have a radical idea (not really).

How about the club pull their fingers out ( they usually do a great job)  and start selling season tickets ASAP, I think there will

be a great take up and it has got to help PH's war chest.

Probably better to wait until the takeover is confirmed and ride that wave.

Indeed, and speaking of waves, whilst the UK seems to be steadily emerging from the Covid crisis there are still no guarantees as to whether crowds will be possible come August. Personally, I'm optimistic that they will however I would imagine people will still be a little more reserved in parting with their cash than they would in totally normal times.

I agree that timing, pricing and policy have to be right however that's a tougher job than usual for so many reasons.

Think that after the takeover goes through there will be a number of things announced and hopefully we will get the ST issue sorted pretty quickly.

It’s weird, I haven’t really been tempted to get a season ticket in many years, but the day after we’ve been relegated I’m actually considering it. And all because of the impending new regime.

The club really needs to be on the ball here. I’ve got a mate who supports Oldham. He says they normally sell about 2,000, yet they have already sold 1,600 for next season! It’s April. That would blow John Fenty’s mind.

They need to be creative with the pricing and the marketing. The price rise last year was an insult, set by girl privates that copulated it up catastrophically.

There should be a discount for this seasons ticket holders.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I would not go that far as to say there should be a discount. But it would be nice to reward existing season ticket holders as well as make it attractive for new season ticket purchases.

I look forward to a new way forward.

If they invest in a modern ticketing system they can tie it in with a loyalty programme. The more you spend with GTFC the more off you get.

I’d imagine that the consortium have already been planning ST promotion and the likes.

I’m sure the trust said there’s already been discussions about those that purchased STs this season and what could be offered etc.

I’d imagine the electronic system, ya know, the ones clubs have had for donkeys years will be kept and electronic tickets etc will be available. It’s boggles my head that we still have to collect actual tickets for games at BP. I understand for away games but even then many or still a barcode/QR code these days.

I don’t expect them to give me a huge discount, I made the choice to purchase one knowing the risks but I guess as a gesture it would be a decent thing to do, even a free shirt or something. Nobody makes me buy a ST, however, it would be nice to finally not have the ownership of the club hold me in contempt and care very little about me/us and just exploit us for cash...

The club already has invested in a new Modern Ticket system with the help of the Trust, It was going to be rolled out for the start of last season if covid  had not stopped fans attending.

Just goes to show that the club should have listened to the Trust more. No reason why a new ticketing system couldn’t have been implemented years ago. Even tinpot clubs like Chavanage have had one for years.

That’s basic stuff and shouldn’t need the help of the trust. !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

They talk to other Supporters Trusts. Some of them actually own and run their clubs.

During the 19/20 season we were the only team in the entire EFL who didn’t have the facility for fans to buy tickets online and physically choose which seat they would sit in.

We were years behind the rest off the field.

Hoping when season tickets go on sale they look into some sort of shift workers season ticket package, the number of shift workers round here is probably higher than most places.

Being a shift worker myself I always miss around 5 games a season so doesn't make economic sense buying one even tho I always do so I can sit with my family etc.

The club did try this previous if I remember correctly they basically allowed 1 free game off and wondered why the take up was so poor.

Yeah I don’t how the club managed to make this so complicated and convoluted.

It’s a fairly simple idea - a “pick 10” or “pick 15” ticket where people can select the games they can attend. No guaranteed seat but a guaranteed ticket up to, say, 2 weeks before the match.

I can remember the Trust going back & forth with the club for ages over this and it was like pulling teeth. Ended up with this bakers’ dozen thing (nobody actually asked for a free game?) that was launched around January in a failing season and got about 2 mentions through the club channels. Then Fenty crowed like fúck when we didn’t shift about a thousand of them.

As an exile I’d almost definitely have one of those tickets, but couldn’t justify 23 trips back home, nor paying for matches you can’t attend.

The whole saga around Season Tickets is just messy & unappealing every year. A million different catches and caveats, Christ knows how many ticket categories (infant, child, young adult, student, unemployed, adult, oap, ancient mariner) across 4 different stands, multi-buy options, full or half season tickets, early bird deadlines that always get pushed back so nobody bothers with the first one, renewal packs full of bumf & tat shifting last year’s stock out the club shop. It’s just a massive turn off for anyone with only a passing interest in getting one.

They always try & justify the prices by comparing them to other teams in the league, and I’ve been saying for years what a stupid idea that is. Other teams aren’t your competitors for shifting tickets - a town fan isn’t going to get a Torquay ticket because it’s cheaper! They need to realise that people will go to the cinema, the pub or take the kids out for the day rather than going to the match & market on that basis.

Anyway, that’s me done for the morning. Onwards, upwards & Fenty out.

Was nothing to do with need help from the trust, why do some on here have to turn everything the club do in to a negative,

The trust  offered their services to test all the ticket systems on the market from a fans point  of view for ease of use and its functionality and the club agreed.

are you able to a) confirm that we were the last of 92 clubs to have such a ticketing  system and
b) comment on why it has taken so long for such a basic thing to be installed?

Not just this but everything that needed any sort of financial expenditure. Investment was looked at as a problem not to be solved, not on the back burner because it was even in the plans.

No on both as that decision has nothing to do with me and why would it, Why moan about what we have not done in the past but be happy for what they have done now,
all I was doing was replying to someone who said it would be nice to have a new ticket system with the fact they have done that this season.

it wasn't meant as a negative ,nor an attack, which is why it was deliberately phrased so neutrally. You'd revealed something that the vast majority didn't know, so i was merely asking if you had any background info or thoughts

Cesspit of negative attacks or just an ever increasing majority absolutely sick to the back flipping teeth of how flipping embarrassing our beloved club and how absolutely flipping abject that spineless, parasitic, despot, arrogant, condescending, crooked twit has been at running the club.

Ticketing at town has been no different for donkeys years...

I have found the opposite, a very good site for stating your opinions in free speech. What is negative about posts wanting our current regime in charge to get out, beit later than sooner. Even in the GT comments are abound wanting Fenty & Co out.

It all seems rather positive comments to me unless you're a Fentyite.

There have been so many cockups like this that it’s easy to forget half of them. Someone should collate them all for posterity. Like a morality tale for future generations.

There have been so many cockups like this that it’s easy to forget half of them. Someone should collate them all for posterity. Like a morality tale for future generations.

The Rise and Fall of the Rollneck Empire?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

No on both as that decision has nothing to do with me and why would it, Why moan about what we have not done in the past but be happy for what they have done now,
all I was doing was replying to someone who said it would be nice to have a new ticket system with the fact they have done that this season.

The Fishy has become a cesspit of negative attacks on anyone with anything positive

The only negative attacks are against a badly run football club that failed to learn from its previous catalogue of disasters.

But it's too little, too late as usual.

We are always playing catch up; reactive instead of proactive. We now have a new ticketing system, but we are non league, so you know, so fooking what?

I can now use my card to enter the ground when we play Boreham Wood or Eastleigh.
