That was so hard to listen to.
Macca will always be one of my favourite Town players

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I really didn't think he was going to be able to finish the man is hurting as much as we are

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Probably as close as we get these days to the metaphorical bleeding black and white. If only we had more players that work for the shirt like he does...

Thanks Sigone. Nearly had me in tears.

Good man Macca.

Takes his share of responsibility. Can you imagine Fenty having that sort of self-awareness and humility.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I can at least take solace in the fact we had a group of players who really cared at the end - just a shame we didn’t have them all season. Coke’s reaction was what got me and then this interview.

Nearly had me going as well, but he’s actually wrong - I don’t think he needs to look at himself. He’s a consummate pro - he’s made errors, lost some confidence, but knuckled down and when he gets back in the team he wins games for us. It would be joyous for him to be part of the squad that gets us back where we belong...

I would like certain individuals to be sat down and made to listen to that interview. Then, and only then, might they understand just what they have done.

I'm sure many of you were at Burton in 2010, as I was. My overwhelming emotions that day were of sadness. Tonight is different. Tonight I feel nothing but anger.

I'm not angry about tonight, because I'd been expecting this moment for weeks. I'm angry about five wasted years since we regained league status. Five years of treading water, as if we'd learnt nothing from our previous experience. And now we have to do it all over again.

Next week's meeting at least offers the possibility of brighter days to come. But we must never, EVER forget why we are where we are tonight. I won't forget and I won't forgive those who are to blame.

Chin up Macca. You had a shaky first half of the season - no doubt as a result of your confidence being trashed by Holloway encouraging our defenders to play tiki taka football like we're the Barca of Iniesta, Xavi et al... But you more than redeemed yourself in recent games with some fantastic saves. And no one can deny your passion and love for this club and understanding of what it means to us, the fans.

I for one, would like to see you here next season, even if it's as back up keeper, or gk coach.

I had a lump in my throat. He's clearly devastated, as are the rest of us. I hope PH gives him the opportunity to make amends next season. Yes he's had a few wobbles and make mistakes but there's no denying he's been a great servant to the Mariners for a decade and long may it continue.

He should not of palmed the ball over the bar in the first place to give them a sloppy corner.  That was a ball a Sunday League keeper would have caught in his hands.

I think you're being very harsh. The marking for the second and third goals was appalling, no player in that kind of position should get a shot or a header away with no challenge at all. Even if you're not going to get the ball you've got to play the man to try and put him off.

Doesn’t change the fact that it was a blatant foul and the goal should have been disallowed. The quality of the referees in League 2 is abysmal and we now return to the Conference where the officials were pretty dire last time round so god knows what the standards are like now.

Yes, he was clearly fouled but his shakiness on crosses is well known to opposition coaches and his 'solution' seems to have been to punch with two fists or tip over the bar. Sober reflection on the whole season must conclude that we need more consistency and command of the penalty area. Macca was badly served by Olly's playing out strategy and credit to him for his improved form since Hurst returned.
Sentiment will play some part and the club should try to retain his services in some capacity but not as first choice keeper or captain. Thanks for all the worldy saves Macca but the club must develop in all areas if we are to return to L2 sooner rather than later.

Which he says in his interview, so it’s not a load of balderdash, hence why he’s apologising.

Well he did stand out among all those great players we had at the time.
He was full of confidence playing the ball out from the back as instructed by Holy Holloway

Hes been a great servant to the club and is Town through and through.
Hope he's still here next season.

There are 10 men in front of the keeper whose job it is to stop the opposition from getting a shot in. If the opposition score, it is always the keeper's fault.

In the case of Macca, it doesn't matter to somehow he stops the opposition from scoring it is always the wrong way. Catch = should have punched, punched = should catch, etc...

Macca has been easy fodder for a while, not sure why but that’s been the case.

He made mistakes, costly ones but I addresses that. It’s also now very apparent that under that flipping charlatan holloway the players were made to play a way that they couldn’t and didn’t feel comfortable to...the straw chewing nincompoop just kept trying anyway even though it was costing us valuable points.

I think Macca was honest and genuine in that interview, can’t ask for much more...

If you keep making mistakes you will become easy fodder, the club needs better someone who can dominate the box distribute the ball accurately. I don’t think he’s a bad keeper just think it’s time for a change ...

There will be better keepers out there, Eastwood for example, but it wouldn't be a huge disaster if Macca was number one next year. I'm far more concerned about pretty much every other position if Coke, Matete, Menayese, Hendrie and Hewitt can't be convinced to stay with us next season. Other than them five along with Pollock, Clifton and LJL if he can get a really good pre-season behind him, I can't make a valid case for keeping or trying to sign any other current player for next season if we are looking to get promoted at the first attempt..

Last few games I thought Macca's punching under pressure and kicking had improved, but we should always be looking for better in every position..

Just hoping we can really compete at the very top next season and the five you mention are in that bracket , but the rest of them don’t cut it for me. Keeping large chunks of this years relegation team even with a couple of decent additions won’t be enough for top spot , I want  this stay to be a short one

If you look at the way teams have gone about getting promoted they've not only planned to get out the National League quickly but also to be challenging at the top end of League 2 in their first season back. If we have a decent budget then we should surely be going down that route. I've had a quick look at out of contract players in our current league and although maybe i'm living in a fantasy world, players like Manny Monthe at Tranmere, Danny Johnson at Orient, Manny Dieseruvwre at Salford and Connor Wood at Bradford are players that i've seen that could potentially do that.

Taking players out of the league to the conference will take some persuasion and some serious money

I agree with you on that but if you believe the stories of Green and Hanson being on £2k plus a week then we have the ability to surely compete, it's how you sell the club and the deal to potential signings. The comfort of a two year deal on good money, especially in the current climate, with the potential of better training facilities and competing to win things, might at least get players you think are out of reach, wanting to come here.

But those contracts came when we had the premier solidarity money, which we won't have any more. We only keep our EFL money for 1 season as a parachute and 50% of of it the ge following season if still down. That's what I think the situation is anyway. So we will be well short of what we currently have, we can't compete with league clubs, but we will be ahead of our NL competitors.
