Firstly I wish Joe and his family well..

Will Hursty replace him with a free agent or and look to recruit in another area of the Team.. if budget allows for it...

If so what would you do....  I would have said get a experienced centre back in, prior to the last 3 games... now I am not sure..

What would you guys do if anything ?

Transfer window is closed so I think our options are very limited. it's only free agents we can sign now.

Nothing to be honest. We are down and Clifton plays okish at left back and save some money for next year. And also best wishes to The lad and hope the problem gets sorted for him

yes lets replace him....and a couple of others while we are at it , may as well try and reach 50 players being used this season just to set even more embarrassing records for the season.

There used to be a saying........buy cheap ,  buy twice ....but for us this season its at least  .... buy cheap , buy thrice ..... Well done JF & Day , i wonder how your prudent budgeting for the season has actually worked out financially for the club......and i mean before we start to consider the massive losses created through relegation that is ?

The cost of everything...the value of nothing.

What’s the point . Better off giving a youth a go.

Just remembered. Hurst doesn’t do that .

Hurst used to be a left back in his playing days, I wonder if he fancies a game 😉

I admire the optimists on here - however I have now accepted the inevitable & we are soon to be non league again.
Young Harry is doing ok it left back - no point in bringing a free agent to the end of the season when we are already gone.
Hurst has sorted the defence out but further forward we are obviously wanting with our has beens & crocs.
Time to plan for next season - we have youngsters on long term contracts so may as well see if they can cut the mustard at this level - or pay them off.
Nothing to lose by playing Jackson, Gibson (when fit) or Sisay.
In midfield what has happened with Spokes?

Absolutely not. We have to play the best team available for every game until we are mathematically relegated. To do anything else is to just give up. Hurst won't do that. When it's realistically impossible to stay up then it's ok to give fringe players or younger players a chance to get some experience with an eye on next season, but we're not there yet.

I have read this thread many times before saying anything.

I have found it extremely hard to comment on it. We have a player, not only a player but a human being, who is in hospital with something that as far as we can find out is serious. So serious that he will not be able to play again this season. He has a wife/partner and family to think about, and them about him.

Within a few short hours, in not minutes, we have a thread about his replacement. I find it hard to accept that we as fans can treat anybody with such disrespect. Yes their may be a problem, which it appears Harry Clifton will solve but it is nowhere near the problem Joe Bunney has in hospital.

Paul Hurst delayed the bad news and likewise we should have delayed our reaction. This is not a criticism of the person who started the thread, because it is a genuine enquiry, just the timing isn't right.

I don’t think there is any disrespect in this thread. Marsh Mariner’s opening sentence even reflects on the most important aspect of the situation.

It is a football forum.

There is nothing we can do for Joe and his family other than leaving them alone and respecting their privacy.

I did not and do not criticise Marsh Mariner. It is a football forum but at the same time their has to be an amount of decorum. Perhaps at times I'm old fashioned and have respect, but that's me. Others may have different thoughts and that's up to them.

I have respect which is why I have been standing up for Joe over the past few weeks whilst most have been slagging him off. But I have no problem with anything on this thread because I don’t personally find it disrespectful. If anything happened to me I would want people to carry on as normal and just leave me alone.

Look I'm not having a go at you, it's just a matter of timing. You have your view on timing and I have mine. It's probably an age thing. So lets both agree to disagree on timing but wish Joe all the best for his future health.

Sorry DB, nothing to do with age, I think you have simply taken my post out of context, as I clearly stated at the start of the post I wish Joe and his family well, this was simply a question to ask what the club would do given the situation.

From a poster who has started a thread about who the next manager should be....while we still have one in place.  Is that not disrespectful ?

I was not having a pop at you and as far as I am concerned it is an age thing to me. I found out at about 8.00 am on Thursday and you posted about 6.00pm. If you had done it today I wouldn't have problem so to me it is an age thing, hence the reason for my posting.

You did also ask an open question "What would you guys do if anything ?"

That said I think we should let the matter rest, and if you think I have taken your comments out of context please accept my apologies.

A question to those why query the number of posts I make. If you were inside BP watching the game how many times would, for example clap, boo, cheer or make comments about the match; or even contradict the person next to you?

The answer is more than once on any subject.

Why?

Because you are a fan and want to show your support, passion and outpouring for the team and club.

If a steward then came to you and told you to shut up your making too much noise how would you feel?
If the steward also said you've already said that once now keep quite, how would you feel.?

This is a fans site and BP is shut.

We are all fans and some more vocal than others but I don't complain at a match if the guy next to me is screaming his head off.

We all express our views in different ways and as I have posted many times I respect the opinions of others, even if I don't agree. And for the same reason others should respect my opinions and the number of them.

Given your not aware of my age, not sure how you can surmise that it is an age thing.

As this is a GTFC forum and we are discussing relevant  topics, I don't think there would be much point in raising the issue several weeks later   Whether you like it or not, GTFC have to consider any relevant actions that may be required, given the situation.

It is not as if I am talking about replacing an active GTFC employee i.e. Hursty,

That being said I accept your apology.

Clifton played well last game but he struggles to find a decent pass moving forward and we could do with a skillful left-back.
BTW I ignore DB's posts too.

I offered DB some advice, he took no heed then ranted at me, and questioned my credentials as a fan for not posting as often as him....  which is nearly impossible incidentally!

Apparently amongst the options are blocking him, ignoring him, and the moderators are considering a post per day limit.

I think this board would improve if he was less prolific and incidentally I didn't get to respond to db attacking me verbally as the thread he created was locked straightafterwards.   But for me, posters like that ruin the message board by overuse and being aggressive when challenged.

I have never had a go at anybody on here unless somebody has a pop at me first. It's called defending yourself and if you don't like what I say you consider your actions before you type.

Their are over 5,900 member so obviously I am not going to please everybody and their are many who have posted over 10,000 times. I only post as a passionate fan who wants the best for Town, the best for all supporters including those who don't like me or what I type.

I don't post to try to be controversial or upset people (apart from defending myself ) or to be popular. On that subject some 59 people decided that they like what I post or they would not have given gold stars.

So to reiterate what I said on another post I'm not leaving and to make it absolutely clear I have never given in to anybody who has tried to intimidate or bully me; and I never will.

DB I think I get where your coming from. The club and this forum is like a family to  some eg you. Only thing is  this isnt the pub my friend . You analyse a lot which some dont like on a football forum. Face to face is a different ball game where more could probably handle it . Having said that I still feel you are a nice person .

I don't often agree with DB's posts but also I don't have a problem with him. He just states his opinion and if we agree or not we are all still entitled to have them, and posting opinions is what the forum is for otherwise we might aswell close all forums related to any subject.

Also I don't think there is anything wrong with OP, I think asking whether we need a replacement or not is  disrespectful and I think it is a legitimate post, god forbid a key player gets a career ending injury mid season or something horrendous happens then does that mean we should not replace this key player? I don't think signing or talking about potential replacements is disrespectful at all as sometimes replacements are needed when somebody's season is ended in some way or the other.

Its the volume of posts - often without thinking.

It clearly winds people up - look at his approval rating - or the number of people that have stated recently they are ignoring him.  Its a shame, we are all Town fans, but one person shouldn't fill the forum like this.

And if you mention it to him, he gets aggressive.

If it winds people up that badly, rather than whinge about it. Block him, It’s that simple. Problem solved!

I don’t agree with DB on a lot of things but I’ve never once found him to be aggressive and enjoy discussions with him.

Think we have to be careful not to single someone out and then encourage a ‘pile on’.

I am not aggressive. What is aggressive is the manner you keep going on  and on. If you don't like me fine I can live with that, so stop having a pop. It goes something like this "DB I don't like you" so cut and paste.

To put things into perspective on the last 2 pages of threads they were started by, and I don't have problem with anybody starting a thread, merely pointing out :-

Fillipe Noche  6

3 each from
WayneBurnettsJockstrap
The Old Codger
It Bites
DB

and 2 from 4 others.

I don't think over 2 pages, about nearly 40 in number, of threads that I am taking over anything.

You have also clearly ignored the 5,900 other members of The Fishy in your latest rant. I am of a very strong opinion that you do not speak for all 5,900 members. You are clearly trying to make this a personal issue against me typing untruth's and ignoring truths.

This is forum and freedom of expression and speech should not be muzzled by you or your ilk.

So as I said post the "I don't like you" and be off with you.

I’ve not noticed DB being aggressive to anyone.

Might be a frequent poster since joining the other month. But hey, we’ve all gotta have a hobby 😁

I’ve said it before to him, that he got off on the wrong foot with his first post. And I think that coloured some people’s opinions of him, especially as it was around the time of the Great Runaway and Phil Space’s wind-ups.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
