has good reviews from Rochdale days from league 1.

27 so at a good age, and wanting to get back into league football...

Could be a good signing if it comes off

It makes sense with Danny Preston leaving and Sam Habergham coming back from long term injury.

Legs look a bit dodgy on photo on telegraph site but Hursty has good record of signing excellent full backs, Magnay, Tate, Thomas, Robertson & Townsend on loan all quality players for town during their time with us.

Hopefully caught the other sides interested in him “on the hop” and he will join us later today.

I thought Habergham was supposed to have been fully recovered when we signed him. He impressed a bit to start with but seems to have faded a bit.

Yes he has but understandable that he is a little rusty after being out for so long. Will be a great asset when proper match fit!

He is but 18 months out of the game will mean he can’t be expected to play week in week out and cover/competition is required for all positions.

Only surprise so far is that we are not linked with any central defenders? Does that mean a possible positional change for Hewitt or that Hurst feels with the right players in front of them the defence will be ok? Interesting!!

I do think that we need a few older, more experienced  heads in the squad for a relegation scrap.

Being fully recovered and fully match fit are two different things. He doesn't look far off tbh and just needs games to build himself back up.

I understand this but when we signed him we need people in up and running. Time at that point and even more so now is not a luxury we have got. Further more if anybody gets job and has been logn term unemployed would they say ' can only put in half a shift as I'm not used to doing 40 Hours'. I don't think so.

It's another one in the hutch.

Other clubs will be hopping mad that they missed out on him.

Let's hope he's rampant.

I'll stop now....

His height is definitely a positive but not much on him it seems. 75 kg I read somewhere is very lightweight  for a  6ft 5 inch player . Sounds like needs to get on the weights.

A point I agree with, & stated on another thread yesterday, but the fact is he was signed hence we need cover & competition for that position so don’t understand the point you are now making.

With him, The Shop and El Mizouni in the team as well as Pollock we could be a right handful at set pieces. In theory.

On the latest video interview with Joe Adams, you can see Joe Bunney training with the team, 1:46 seconds in.

Good news as we are light down the left hand side. If he plays left wing back/left wing and Habergham breaks down, we're covered.

Maybe Hurst plans to play them both, Bunney in front of Habergham.

Would give a more balanced midfield with Adam on the right, Metete and Miz in the middle.

Hurst loves the long diagonal to the tall left winger doesn’t he?!

I like the look of this guy... Strong left peg which we don't really have, rangy, tall, looks to have a bit of pace and can definitely finish!

Hursty has always been great and picking out gems we've never heard of - fingers crossed this could be another!

If he does not work out, there are 50 similar replacements in the field opposite our house. 😉😁

Can play left wing or left back and Adams can do the same on the right, so two ready made wing backs. The two Joe's.

looking at the videos i thought we'd signed a peter Crouch type centre forward rather than a left back!
looks like he could help out up front plus as a monkhouse type winger.
do wonder whether Hurst might play him, Mayonaise and 1 of Pollock or Waterfall?

Don't be surprised to see him being used as a left sided wing back..
Pollock, Maneyese, Waterfall back 3 with Hendrie as a right side wing back..

I agree it crashed n burned but not sure if Bunney is a centre half though..Great if he is, as I'd drop Pollock and Waterfall in favour of Manayese and Bunney..

He has played as a striker, also left wing and left back.

He scored 19 goals in 26 games for Northwich Victoria early in his career.

Looking at the videos of Bunney, he looks to be a bit of marauding left-back/wing-back.  If going with 3 at the back, it wouldn't surprise me if it's Habergham who's the one who goes into defence and Bunney as the wing-back.

I think Habergham looks tidy and decent enough, but hasn't quite got the fitness yet to be up and down that flank effectively.

Pollock, as the left sided centre-back, is carrying an injury and looks bang out of form so needs a break in my eyes.  Either that or Idehen comes back into the fold.

He'll be a decent shout for goalscorer betting as I'm guessing he will be going up for corners and free kicks.

This is a good point.

If Bunney is going to be playing he adds to some real height and aerial power in the team. We really need to make the most of it and get the set piece delivery bang on. If we start to become more solid defensively, it could be the odd goal from a set piece that makes the difference at the other end.

We could have Waterfall, Pollock, Bunney, Menayese, and two from Hanson/LJL/Payne all in the box. That should be a real problem for teams if the delivery is decent.

You would hope that of the virtually new team we've brought in, someone must be capable of delivering a decent set-piece.  We were told that Habergham had a wand of a left-foot, which I've in all honesty not seen yet.  Similar to when Williams arrived with the billing of having good delivery.

Rose can deliver a decent ball but his good deliveries are usually followed by 3 or 4 of those awful floated efforts that are bread and butter for 'keepers.

Bunney is currently 28/1 for first/last goal with Bet365 and 11/1 for anytime.  His Wiki page shows that he scored for fun at Lancaster, Kendal and Northwich Victoria and then averaged one every 7 or 8 games at Rochdale.  But then doesn't look to have scored in 40 or so games in the last 3 years.  Of course that's not knowing where he's played in any of those games.

Also noted that Waterfall and Menayese are both 40/1 for first/last goal and 16/1 any time.  With the extra height in the team it may well create a bit more freedom for players at set-pieces, again this is on a hope, with better deliveries.    Our current top scorer, Mattie Pollock, is 25's for first/last and 10's anytime.

In comparison Matt Green is 7's and 12/5 respectively.

Not sure why people are expecting Bunney to score lots of headed goals because he’s tall.
Looking at his career scoring record we should not expect him to score more than 2 goals even if he plays in every game.

Let’s hope he does better, but don’t think his goalscoring will be his defining contribution to survival.
Happy to be proved wrong.

It's not necessarily about him scoring goals but more the threat he poses, the ability to flick the ball on and with his height the chances are teams will bang 2 defenders on him which opens gaps for other s to expose

Very often the very tall players are not brilliant in the air. We once had a centre forward, Walker I think, who featured in a well known photo with Dave Boylen. He was about 6ft 7 from memory but much better with the ball on the floor than in the air.

I would imagine before the interview started Matt Dean would have checked with Joe to see if he could ask questions about the car crash and also before any question he said is it ok to ask that so Joe could have easily refused to answer a question.

Likewise I'm sure Matt Dean would have checked with him to see if he had any issues if it was posted online.
