1 point from 15 is it now? It’s a good job Hurst has his free pass.

Never mind a free pass. He’s been given a hospital pass.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Certainly not arguing that Hurst inherited a mess but have to say when he was appointed I expected some upturn in our results especially given our opponents in these fixtures with the exception of Cambridge. Disappointed that Wright wasn’t brought on, or Scannell on the bench, as I think they provide a different option but hindsight has always been a wonderful thing. Why is it only town that doesn’t get a new Manager bounce?

We don't get the bounce because the issues at the club are deeper and more structural.

The takeover will change this, I'm hopeful for the medium / long term, but I fear there may not be enough time this season to turn the oil tanker created by false economies and incompetent leadership around....

If it wasn't for the hopes we will be competently led after the takeover, deckchairs on the Titanic would be a better analogy...

I see Hess scored today. Should have kept him and Whitehouse.

No point in stating the obvious, we didn’t and there were far too many of us who didn’t care who we released because we stupidly believed that Holloway would bring in better quality replacements, I still cannot believe how easily I have been taken in by that poisonous dwarf.

Bringing in Glennon, Benson Clarke & Grandie ( whatever his name was) last season had us all rubbing our hands in expectation when we should have been washing them to rid ourselves of Holloway and our pathetic board.

My only hope now is that the consortium take a totally different approach. I hope they realise that you get nothing in football without investing in good players. It's not cheap, but the payoff is that you bring success on the pitch which brings with it financial rewards, generates interest in the club, and builds positive momentum.

I think that is at the heart of Fenty's disasterous stewardship. He apparently believes that 'football fortune' comes first, and leads to better things.

But the causality is exactly opposite.

Unpopular opinion on a day like today but.. I think we'll stay up. Like the look of the new signings, one or two decent players to come back from injury, plenty of games to play. Southend, Stevenage, Barrow,  Harrogate and maybe Colchester are in this fight and I'd back us to be out of the bottom two by the end of the season. We'll look a lot better after given time to gel in a few weeks time and two wins on the bounce can change circumstances dramatically..

Can't see us winning two of the next four games to be honest. By then we might be more than six points adrift.

But I agree that we need to win a string of games to lift us out of danger. A point here and there is not good enough at this point.

We have been in this before - haven't we just - and there is a natural tendency to cling on to as much hope as possible.

A few weeks ago it was half a season left. And the window. And we playing teams around us. And the National league might fold.

Here we are a few weeks on and the window is about to shut, we have got one point against the teams around us, and we have just lost to an unforgivable goal with the last kick. Suddenly the games left start to drift away.

I remember in 2010 holding out hope right till the death, refusing to accept it could happen, and no doubt I will do the same again;

However, I think this team is a lot worse than the one which went down last time. This team just seems to lack any cutting edge whatsoever and is terrible at the back. I suppose all relegated teams are the same, but I don't share your optimism that we can get out of this mess.

I hope you are right but with some difficult games coming up it will take a miracle.

It’s a depressing situation but it ain’t over til it’s over. I have some faith that Hursty can somehow work some magic and save our bottom. It might come down to the 11th hour but I believe he will manage it!

It is difficult to be accurate about forecasting the future, especially with football matches.  Otherwise, we would all have won a fortune on the Pools.

We won away at both Div 2 teams that were impressive in the FAC.  Who expected that?

We are dreadful now.  With new players and Hurst we can just get over the line by the end of the season.
