Think we could do a lot worse than signing krystian Pearce and Abu Ogogo this week. Our team is seriously short of physicality and leaders and these two certainly tick these boxes. Both waterfall and pollock have struggled this season, and we have no real competition for these now that ohman isn’t around. Krystian Pearce is free having just finished a short term deal at Solihull, he was always impressed for Mansfield (whom he captained) and actually finished in the league two team of the year when they finished 4th 18 months ago. Just turned 31 so certainly got a few years in him yet.

As for Abu Ogogo, he’s just finished a short term loan spell at Dagenham (where he earnt good reviews), and was PH captain at Shrewsbury during that successful 18 months. Another who would add some physicality and leadership into central midfield which for me is the area where I genuinely feel we are most lacking. Hewitt, Clifton, rose, Williams have not done nearly enough.

Certainly think these two would improve us, along with the addition of habergham (he looked an instant improvement on Preston despite not playing for 2 1/2 years)  would give us a much better chance of survival. Of course I still think we need a striker (As well as a fit Hanson) and another embleton/benson kind of central midfielder is needed also. It’s a shame Jake Taylor turned us down because he is that type.

Annoying when someone takes the time to put forward two potential and attainable signings, along with accompanying information, and gets red crossed.

Cheers for the summary.

I would take both of them.

Ogogo was Shrewsbury captain under Hurst when they made the league 1 play offs and he would certainly add some bite to our central midfield instead of having Danny Rose walking about chickening out of tackles every single game.

Pearce was excellent at Mansfield and I believe has only been at Solihull to keep match fit whilst out of contract, and before people say why was he out of contract, well good players sometimes can't find another club for any reason that doesn't mean they are excrement...

Could either of them be any worse than what we already have?

Not really a reason to sign them Aaron “ could they be any worse”

I will wait this week and see who PH can bring in for us

Amazing to think back to the calibre of striker we had not so long ago. Mendonca, Lester, Reddy, Birtles, Rees, Woods, Livvo, Drinkell, Wilkinson, Kabba, Allen, Nielsen...

Everyone drops in a stinker every now and then.

Under a good coach (Cowley) he proved to be a very steady defender at this level. Under 2 ... I’ll be kind, less able coaches, in Jolley and Holloway he has struggled. From what we have seen of Hurst in the past I think he is more likely to get a tune from him when things settle but we’ll see.

I am in complete agreement that on the whole Waterfall has failed to impress for Grimsby so far and that is putting it nicely. I do think he is one who can up his game several levels though.

I think Pearce is a good shout. He's more mobile than what we have and being an ex captain of Mansfield, he will be an organiser. Only 31, plenty of experience, been playing, so will be ready to go. Was at Solihull as it's local to him.

Ticks a few boxes.

Generally at Lincoln he was playing with far, far better players than he is now which would cover his obvious deficiencies. Raggett, Bostwick and Dickie were his most common partners in defence and all of them are either playing at a much higher level than he is now or, in the case of Bostwick, has had a much more successful career. There's a reason he had played all of 9 games in the FL before his 27th birthday; he's a clogger. Not the worst defender we've ever had but bottom half of L2 at best and far too similar to Pollock to be a successful pairing.
