I have said it before, as my old nan used to say “either excrement or get off the pot”.

Best said in a Peter Kay accent.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

What never ceases to amaze is how the Fishy turns tail on these things.

Can we not remember the heated debates on here about the pros and cons of the Parkway, the Nimby arguments and the belittling of people who went to the trouble of finding out what a bunch of shysters this company was? I haven't looked back at the threads and have no intention of, but I bet polls on the subject favoured the Parkway, these developers and those thousands of houses that needed planning permission.

I remember getting plenty of red-crosses for questioning the economics and told by some it was a trade secret. And totally ignored by Fenty when I asked him directly.

I have no idea how the Docks plan holds together either, but it's got to the point that if there is a way of getting the new ground funded, Fenty isn't the one to find it and the Shutes Consortium might find it. And in the meantime the latter will deliver a better experience all round.

In truth, sensible folk knew that that PP development would never materialise. It was never the right place and the simple fact is Fenty and his chums were never the right people to deliver it there or anywhere for that matter.

It’s interesting that the excuses people use to suggest Shutes and co need to be addressed with caution come down to cash but a change of ownership is so much more than cash investment.

There’s no idea of moving the club forward at present, we’ve a club shop website that’s worse than what a 12 year old knocks up in an ICT lesson. The ticketing system is knackered, the training facilities are embarrassing, the way the club sells itself, the state of the offices, the way it treats its staff, everything.

Most of those things can be altered and moved forward with a change of mindset.

The mindset internally is all over the place and the contempt it has for fans and staff alike is astounding. That can be changed for free.

The change of ownership is so much more than just money...but of course, given the obsession with cash from the current incumbents it’s to be expected that they don’t understand that change doesn’t just mean ploughing cash in...

If Fenty ever built a stadium it will be as bad as Scunthorpe with painted breeze blocks and cladding and that’s being polite

Did that company Marley prattled on about ever get that huge development finished?

Again, you can see why we ‘worked’ with Extreme Leisure; they were as childish as us...remember their owners missus slagging us off...

This is it precisely.

Have you noticed that Fenty or any of his acolytes never talk of anything but money? No talk of spectator comfort, improved facilities, rewards for paying customers, updating anything to with the customers, no reference to anybody in a positive light - just a constant droning on about money and how to save a bit more on the bottom line to ensure he gets every single penny back. Its degrading.

If we get new owners, who even if they are half as good as they are portrayed it will seem like a whole new world. Money is incredibly important this day and age, but if you have no vision of what to do with it, and make your paying customers happy and looking forward to the future what exactly is the point?

Yeah.

But all the other clubs have a toilet.  😳

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Exactly. My point about the Parkway and this company is part of the pattern and too often Fishy posters allow debates to be money-led because money is the main JF agenda.

New is not always better. There are many reasons why a new ground on the docks or the East Marsh would be a good idea but I am still struggling to see what the club (not the fans) would get out of it. Just moving someone’s desk to a nice new room in a nice new building will have no long term effect on their productivity unless the business is restructured. It is the same on the park, a nice new pitch is no guarantee of results. It is just the same with the takeover attempt too. If the same policies are followed it hardly matters whose name is on the owner’s office door does it? And even if the club becomes better run, more efficient and family friendly or whatever. Even that is no guarantee of progress. I would guess Scunthorpe is one of the best run clubs in our league but that isn’t showing on the pitch these days. There has to be consistency and a willingness to speculate to accumulate and not rest on laurels as we did when promoted.

I’m in favour of JF leaving but if the end result is only cosmetic then there is little point. I was disappointed to read on the Hurst poll thread that it was thought Shutes was the one to have contacted Hurst. Is that really a forward looking move or a pragmatic businessman’s reaction to firefighting a crisis? Is investment in a new ground or training pitch just a cosmetic side benefit to a property development or would we see finance for a high quality expansion of the coaching staff to develop young players? Lots of questions and we need to see answers before jumping on any bandwagons.

We are nowhere near an end game even if JF accepts the offer and leaves. All we will have is euphoria and no way of transferring that to performances on the park. It isn’t just the colour of the consortium’s money we need to see, it’s their plans (and dreams) too.

The only thing we know for certain is that stagnation and then another relegation beckon with the current ownership.
