Oddly there is already talk of some of our new signings going out on loan, Sisay and Jackson Jnr to name two.
That's fine, but as we are at the bottom of the professional echelon, apart from a few clubs in the National League, those boys need more than being shovelled back out to semi-pro or amateur teams who's fitness levels are supposedly below what we require here to get a game. They clearly need to be training 5 days a week if they are to further the 'professional' status that they have now. Sending them back out on loan would quite literally be a backwards step for them.

I maybe wrong, but I believe when guys go to non-league teams on loan, they do continue to train with Town, so it may not be a bad idea still...

Whenever we loan a player out to a part-time club they always train with us full-time. Whether the EFL will stamp that out whilst Covid wreaks havoc is another question though.

I understand that but that is really only an option if the loan team are within a certain distance of Grimsby. They will also need to train with the team they have joined so commute times must be kept to a minimum surely?

Discounting Covid issues, surely this would be a good approach to take?
They train here so they get that fundamental fitness. They then play for their loan club which will allow them to get a degree of match fitness.
We only need to look at Charles Vernam 12 months ago to see what benefit a loan spell can have. Going back further, Jack Lester to Doncaster was the making of him.

But all training is socially distanced, as is travelling on the team coach. So if one player gets it, there's no chance anybody else in the team can have caught it from them. This way, nobody needs to get tested, even if they have symptoms. The symptomatic person isolates for 10 days and the rest of the team are fine because there's been no contact. They can just carry on as normal. This is the EFL's sweep it under the carpet mentality of how we're allowed to carry on playing, regardless of positive case, despite it not making any sense whatsoever.

All part of Days masterplan , keep getting players infected, keep getting games postponed, eventually the season becomes a farce and we can call it off whilst also minimising appearance money, goal bonuses , contract triggers etc Loaned out players will probably be instructed to be first into any goal celebration huddles/ pile ons at their loan clubs to maximise chances of picking it up.

Am I correct in thinking the players are not getting their full salary whilst not playing due to covid? So I think this is a good idea if it means the lads getting paid.
