Obikwu is in for Wilson and Green for Andrews. Bench looks strong again so hopefully a victory.

Unless there’s niggle or he’s not 100%, I really don’t get the Wilson omission. A good chance for some continuity and to build up some form against his former club, and to further the promising partnership with Rose.

Cue an Obikwu hat trick.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Perhaps Wilson is knackered and incapable of playing two games after only just returning from injury so he is being managed back in...

Maybe Tuesday his experience is needed more or a not quite 100%/knackered.

Just noticed that the Veggies (bradfud) and Sutton (Crewe) have very tough away games on Tuesday.

Obikwu played well last time out, and is fresh. Maybe giving Wilson a bit of rest because we will need him for the  MKD game on Tuesday.

Obikwu needs to be alert and dragging defenders away from Rose from the start. He warmed up slowly at Morecambe and had some good moments winning free kicks and showing for passes.
He was invisible in his Wimbledon cameo. If height had anything to do with his selection it  hasn't  been a bonus so far.
If Wilson has a niggle then Eisa might have been the way to go.

Have you seen the state of the pitch at Sutton?
It looks no better than a local park!

He’s flown to Trinidad and back and played 90 minutes in a rock hard pitch so maybe not that fresh hence why he was only sub on Tuesday but now ready

BBC are suggesting we’re back to a 4231 like against Morecambe, so that’ll be why he’s dropped Wilson.

Is the pitch so sandy to make the it look like the savannah for the sake of their mascot?  Let's hope Town get the lion's share of the points.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Green really does infuriate me, the man can make one of the best cross pitch diaginal passes you've ever seen, inch perfect to the winger. Ask him to make one of the most basic 5 yard pass on the deck and you've got no idea where it will end up

How did that not go in? Desperate defending from Sutton then

I’m going to be generous and say it’s the pitch rather than the players on it that’s making this a painful watch.

Good first half, limited in what we can do on this ploughed field, but easily the better side. Glad we got the deserved goal and glad Obikwu got it he's worked his socks off this half.

There's no surprise these two teams are where they are in the league. A shocking lack of any sort of quality on offer with Town being slightly the "better" of the two sides. Probably just about deserved the goal and lead. But really do any of us care at this stage of the season? It's just about survival.

Awful pitch and awful game. Obikwu probably mad that he fluffed his easier chance dives on the next chance which was actually a far harder one to score from. We're winning at least but it's a rough game to watch. Got Sutton commentary as well, I thought our commentators were depressed, they make Tondeur and Croft seem super positive in comparison!

If we don't win this then we have only ourselves to blame, Sutton are truly awful and carry no threat whatsoever. Very, very scrappy game with two sides of very little quality.

That no.4 they've brought on has won evey header thats cpme his way and broken down nearly every attack we've made this half.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

What the hell has happened to Mularky? Takes out half the defence there and some nice slide rule pass in the first half.

This is the first Town game I've watched for a few weeks and I'm happy to see the Russian roulette game of always playing it out from the back has been greatly toned down.

Amazing what happens when a player is played in his preferred position and isn’t exposed by a midfield that have all gone miles ahead of the ball when we lose possession.

We should be out of sight by now.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Until a couple of minutes ago we had had 8 shots on target.  Sutton nil.   If you can't score another from eight!

In some home games we have conceded from every shot on target.

We're drawing because we lack composure (and because the linesman is a flipping corrupt girl private). We've had loads of fantastic chances in this game and just hit most of them straight at the keeper.

We played into Sutton's hand's . They had some big lads on and we kept it in the air.  Then we invited pressure and gave away free kicks.  Should be putting those games to bed.   Was starting to see daylight.

Ideally we should have scored another goal and put the game to bed but we were cheated out of a lead by a shambolic ego trip over an argument in the first half. I think the players have a right to feel unlucky not to come away with 3 points after that.

We allowed the game to go away from us and invited so much pressure. If we take our chances we win this game. That lino has made a howler, but we need to score more and we don't. I'm pleased we've stopped this passing out from the back nonsense.

People can red cross ❌ my last comment as much as they like but we were under pressure and he waits till nearly 80 mins to get another sub ready. Shocking decision by the lino but if we got fresh legs on the pitch 10 mins earlier we might have kept them away from our box a bit better.

Let’s be honest here. If we are relying on referees and linesman having a great game such that we win against a side bottom of the league and without hope then frankly we are more screwed than I thought we were. It was in fact a poor game between two poor sides who are where they are due to poor play, performances, attitude, desire. And not due to decisions of the officials.

Maybe a shocking decision. No, definitely a shocking decision but we brought it on to ourselves by not taking clear cut chances and inviting pressure. The equaliser was coming for a while. That looked like a non league match. Two poor sides.

Should have been 2 or 3 up before the lino wanted to be center of attention. Can only blame ourselves for not putting the game to bed.

Their no.4 changed things dramitically, he near enough shut down every attack we made in the 2nd half on his own. Then when we didn't react to their second set of subs they took control in midfield and like the FGR game and Wimbledon game we sank deeper and deeper and deeper never really.pushing out.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

You’re just like the linesman who had an issue with the ref. Going to be Artells fault in your head no matter what happens.
Upset they didn’t get a winner ?

It sure they missed their chances on purpose. Players have put a real shift in again today and deserve some credit for what’s been a positive week.

It’s been a while since we’ve been absolutely robbed but that one takes the urine, an absolutely disgraceful piece of officiating.

The ref was having a good game, he’s ruined that by letting an already shambolic assistant call the shots.

As I say we are in a dire dire position is we are relying on officials. We should have swept them away in the first half. This had a draw all over it second half. Poor poor football from two poor teams.  Suck it up. It is what it is and it is glaringly poor football from town regardless of referees

Not the set of results we were hoping for, but it's another point, and the gap to Colchester, who have a really tough run in, is steadily growing.

Surely FGR can't keep nicking these wins, but we still have a five point gap on them.  From here on in we just need to match their results to stay up, but it may well be that they end up overtaking Colchester.

It sure they missed their chances on purpose. Players have put a real shift in again today and deserve some credit for what’s been a positive week.

Oh look at that Artell just agreed with me entirely.

On a positive note, we have not lost in 4 games and taken 6 points. Compare that with the 4 games before that.

I'm not saying we're brilliant but have come on leaps and bounds.

You’re just like the linesman who had an issue with the ref. Going to be Artells fault in your head no matter what happens.
Upset they didn’t get a winner ?

I don't think I have said a word against Artell since he arrived. We have managed 2 wins agains 2 other relegation candidates since he came, that is still CR@P and his game mangement is rubbish. And as for the last sentence FOFF you ignorant tozzer. I want us to win every game whoever is manager/chairman/players or tea lady.

Honestly flabbergasted by that decision. Officials are hopeless, we all know that, but i am convinced that we have just been cheated by a man with a grudge. Stephen Brown, hang your flipping head in shame.

So the linesman could wave his c0ck at the ref I suspect

They were crap but we were crap too. Nowhere near as good as the Wimbledon performance. Players looked either complacent or they couldn't be arsed. If you wanted to be kind you could maybe argue the performance was due to tiredness?

We have effectively killed Sutton and Colchester seem like the next likely to go down now I think .

We should have won easily really ,been out of sight to make the ref/linesperson irrelevant .

Slowly , slowly but another point or more against MK Tuesday and we will be on the home straight in terms of safety

If we're really honest they were shite and we were also shite. That's the closest non-league game we've had since being back in the national league. It was a terrible pitch, with laboured, stop-start football. We don't look fit enough for 90 minutes and we can't take our chances to see out a game.

Just back in the pub and baffled by some people’s response. Solid performance just didn’t take our chances. 9 shots on target and they had 1. Lineman was awful all game. Ref overruled him in the first half and even o e ruled him on an offside in the 2nd

For what it's worth Town have to report that. We've become innocent victims in a spat between 2 weak and inept officials.
From the commentary, it seems.... Lino gives a foul 1st half, ref overrules him, lino gets upset and refuses to shake refs hand at half time, just shakes his head at him??
Lino seemingly puts ref on the spot 2nd half and is the only person to see a handball, ref is worried he might get another shake of the the head at FT so takes 3 minutes to decide that linos one-man show of evidence is correct.
Never seen anything like that in 40 years.

The ref looked a total control freak from the off. He should have just trusted his official but seemed to want it to be all about him. Made it look controversial, poor refereeing imho.

We were in the corner near the linesman and had a similar view to him. It was given for a handball on Holohan. It looked a penalty to me in isolation (not taking any fouls on Town players in consideration). If it happened at the other end and wasn’t given as a penalty is us we’d be fuming.

forgive this absolutely tiny image but it is handball and a really good spot from the linesman. The referee however, misses a blatant foul prior to this that should be a freekick to us.

It was rose. And his hands and down by his sides. It is never. Never handball.

That linesman wanted to be involved from the off.

That’s the bit I don’t get, if the ball goes in from open play the ref would disallow that for a foul on Tharme

It looked to me like he cradled the ball. It was right in front of me. Play continued and I thought we'd got away with it. The Sutton fans in that corner had a clear view. They were screaming for a handball.

Let’s be honest here. If we are relying on referees and linesman being moderately competent, and not falling out like a couple of seven year olds.

We played into Sutton's hand's . They had some big lads on and we kept it in the air.  Then we invited pressure and gave away free kicks.  Should be putting those games to bed.   Was starting to see daylight.

Rose. Should have been a foul given against them before it granted. But given it wasn't then the next thing was the handball. The ref should have seen the foul it was right in front of him. Then we wouldn't be talking about the handball.

All the anger in the ground though was directed at the linesman.

Rose handballs, but there's a freekick to be given before that. All fault is with the referee on this one. The linesman does his job on what he can see.

On a positive note, we have not lost in 4 games and taken 6 points. Compare that with the 4 games before that.

I'm not saying we're brilliant but have come on leaps and bounds.

Two of those against bottom two so 6 points from four is par at best . Only 3 goals cored in those 4 suggests we still have problems they have just changed

It's not even a handball. He heads it down and it hits his hand in a natural position. The linesman should be put in stocks in the center circle before the MK D*ns game and fans can auction for the chance to throw rotting fish guts at him. Had his ego bruised in the first half by the ref (correctly) overruling his decision so wanted to get his own back on him. Laughably the ref even had to give an offside that the lino missed after the penalty when the player was a full 10 yards offside. A complete joke of an official who should never officiate in the professional game again.

The clip shows the referee looking straight at Tharme as he's fouled. Amazing that this sort of thing can be missed.

Absolutely. Handball after the mugging by no 9 is irrelevant
Ref was in clear sight of it and should be sacked

Awful pitch and awful game. Obikwu probably mad that he fluffed his easier chance dives on the next chance which was actually a far harder one to score from. We're winning at least but it's a rough game to watch. Got Sutton commentary as well, I thought our commentators were depressed, they make Tondeur and Croft seem super positive in comparison!

Awful match officials = league 2 football get their officials from Poundland!!!

Honestly, if I was watching that incident in a game between 2 teams I didn'r care about I would expect the whistle to go and the ref just tell the attacking team to behave, there are 3 players just blocking our defenders, one is pushing the defender into Cartwright who had no chance of even joining in the footballing fun going on.
Gav also seems to have his arms down, ball is smacked at him, he has no real chance of getting to the ball cleanly due to the wrestling match going on next to him. And the throw to the floor....shocking.

Should have finished the game off for sure  but we came close, hit the woodwork and all in all I thought we played ok on a sandpit with two strips of grassdown each side.

https://www.skysports.com/foot.....eague-two-highlights

From those highlights it looks to me that both players have their arms round each other therefore both were committing a foul just that one was stronger than the other. You see far too much of this sort of thing at free kicks and corners and refs should have clamped down on it long ago.

Tharme was thrown down onto his back with the player using his leg as a lever. It's not flipping martial arts, you know.

Feel for the players to be honest after a big game last week 2 bonkers trips to Greater London to clubs 5 miles away from each other they gave what they had & did their best, it’s worth noting players don’t miss chances on purpose.

Also some are having a go at Artell for not changing it earlier, maybe but what could have really done to make a difference when you look at the bench?

So who was the biggest 🔔🔚 today the ref or the Lino? The ref wins that particular accolade for sure, undermined his assistant in the first half putting the assistant under pressure to prove his worth at some point, which he did in spades.

I think it’s pointless looking at the vagaries of the handball but it was an outrageous foul on Tharme before that and should have been a free kick to Town.

Problem we have is that until the kids & lads who ref on the parks get more protection & support we’ll see poor officials in the professional game as there is not enough refs coming up which means some really sh1t ones get their season of fame in the pro game.

I’m sure on the bus tonight/training Monday there will be loads of Shaun Pearson “we go again” style chat, if the staff use this wisely it just might galvanise us.

Relegation is still a reality but out of the bottom 4 we’re in a good place and there’s much more to be positive about.

UTM!!
