Personally I'd have played Hunt instead of Green today and Green instead of Hunt against Harrogate - given Mansfield are more of a footballing team than Harrogate.

I'm sure every ref in this league had a meeting and said Danny Rose is getting zero decisions unless he's literally punched in the face in front of the ref. Barely been given a foul all season because he dived a couple of times in his first game of the season.

Amazing how we can stick up for players because they are good people. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in over 17 games absolutely shocking and should be punished for it. Got no pace, not the strongest and weak as urine bet strikers absolutely love when they coming up against us. |

Mansfield are four years into their journey and play the footy we yearn for, our midfield only has Conteh capable of controlling and passing the ball, Clifton and Green simply not good enough and we just have to move the ball around much quicker.

Watching this it wouldn't matter who we were playing, apart from a couple of minutes we have looked crap especially defensively.
We're playing a team at home who have beaten pretty much everyone and we haven't won away. They're 4 year into the plan with million pound players in the squad. We are 1 month in and probably should be level at least after hitting the post, the bar and also forcing Pym into 3/4 good saves. It's not been a terrible performance because you can quite clearly see what we're trying to do rather than just an aimless punt and you can see what needs improving. Like you said the defence is a huge concern for the way Artell wants to play, two out of the three central midfielders are also probably not good enough either and yet we're giving the team most of this forum has said is the best team we've seen play this year a real game. |

Unbelievable.. flipping joke of a team. Let’s just keep backing them thought because they are triers.. I can’t wait till the end of the year somehow we’ve managed to get worse than we was last year even when we was excrement on quality.
I think we are worse than last year not just based on today as we have been quite good just can't finish /convert the final ball . I think keeper is close between Cartwright /Crocombe But a prime Waterfall/Smith trumps Maher and Rodgers for me . Then Taylor (I know his race was all but run + Mcatee trumps just Danny Rose doesn't it as good as I think Rose is . Midfield is just not good enough - Conteh is an upgrade but the rest is the same / worse and boy is it showing now . We needed 1 high quality ball player or physical type at least in the summer - not sure why recruitment went so wrong . The worrying thing is Bryn Morris , Orsi and even Kiernan were not one's I thought we should keep but in hindsight now they would be better than some we have playing . |

Positives from the first half is that we look pretty good going forward and just need that spot of good fortune.
Negatives take your pick out of either of the centre backs and all of the defensive frailties that we have. And, as much as a great player that waterfall is, he ain’t the answer!
Probably didn’t deserve to concede the second but, the stats don’t lie. Mansfield have had 18 shots with 7 on target against towns 7 and 4.
On a positive side too, great to see meatloaf coming back to life to see his home town of Mansfield play

Yes i'm watching, can you read? I'm not debating we are excrement, the table doesn't lie but to say the whole performance has been terrible is a lie. Like I said, they are 4 years down the line of a plan with Nigel Clough. They are what we are aiming to become under Artell and there's positives to take. We've had enough chances today to score 3/4 and will get more in the second half. The patterns of play are there, the quality to finish it off isn't. They have Aden Flint and Bailey Cargill at centre half. Aden Flint who captained Sheff Wednesday to L1 promotion last season and Bailey Cargill who also won L2 with Forest Green a couple years ago. Lucas Akins up front who's spent majority of his career playing in the Champ and L1. Stephen Quinn who's spent most of his career in the championship/premier league. The difference is quality, if we had that quality going through this side we'd be level at least. It's a long term plan... not going to turn into Real Madrid over night and start beating everybody. I'm in agreement that the players are excrement, he has January to move some players on and then they'll be another overhaul of players that he doesn't think are good enough, which is majority of the squad. |

It’s little more than the fact that Mansfield have spent more money on better players than we have so they can compete for promotion. Standout facts for today, and the contrast between them and us most seen here:
They have players who can control the ball consistently.
They have players who will finish not squander chances.
They have physicality and athleticism.
They can pass and move with precision and intent.
They have excellent defenders and keeper.
What’s obvious really is that we will need to invest more money and more acumen/astuteness on better players if we want to get in the picture, and do little more than make up the numbers or tangle with relegation. Now, I’m not saying our budget is bottom 6 - I have no information or any reason to think it is, but I’d bet that it’s not close to most of those who are competing. Think Mansfield have set their stall out and have a clear statement of intent.
What’s most disappointing, for me, is that we might have been satisfied, to some extent, with a season of ‘consolidation’ at the very least. That’s top half. You couldn’t say that we’re on track with that.

This game more than any recently has shown how far behind we are in terms of quality.
We need six or seven players in with more quality than we currently have because what we have now its clear to see they don't have the quality needed to even avoid relegation.
If some ain't shipped out and some come in then we could well be in big trouble .

Yes i'm watching, can you read? I'm not debating we are excrement, the table doesn't lie but to say the whole performance has been terrible is a lie. Like I said, they are 4 years down the line of a plan with Nigel Clough. They are what we are aiming to become under Artell and there's positives to take. We've had enough chances today to score 3/4 and will get more in the second half. The patterns of play are there, the quality to finish it off isn't. They have Aden Flint and Bailey Cargill at centre half. Aden Flint who captained Sheff Wednesday to L1 promotion last season and Bailey Cargill who also won L2 with Forest Green a couple years ago. Lucas Akins up front who's spent majority of his career playing in the Champ and L1. Stephen Quinn who's spent most of his career in the championship/premier league. The difference is quality, if we had that quality going through this side we'd be level at least. It's a long term plan... not going to turn into Real Madrid over night and start beating everybody. I'm in agreement that the players are excrement, he has January to move some players on and then they'll be another overhaul of players that he doesn't think are good enough, which is majority of the squad.
Are you sure you are watching the right game. It wouldn't matter if they were 4 weeks into their plan for about 80 minutes we have been utter flipping garbage. |

Team full of players that are weak-minded and lacking in technical ability. Artell has his work cut out cause frankly other than Rose you could get rid of any of them and I wouldn’t be upset.
Need at least one centre back, a centre mid and a striker to come in in January. And they'll only need to be able to pass a ball consistently over five yards to be an improvement on a lot of our players.

I’m really sorry but other than some subs I don’t see a difference from hurst-ball to artell-ball. Yes, we’re playing 4th. Yes we lost pyke but still players low on confidence (Conteh & Clifton) and ineffective. When we tried to play out they were all over us. Yet when they tried the same, we let them. When your goalie is clear MOM that’s all you need to know. Long season ahead.

You can probably say that ANY player that Artell ships out in January will not command a fee, but will save on their wages UNLESS they are still under a 3-year contract where we may have to pay them off.
I would think there is a bit in the pot to cover any increase in wages, which you would expect to pay if they are looking to sign players of better quality or with experience.
I would be very surprised if David Artell does pay a fee for any player to come in, so we are dependant on Artell's little black book, and then those who are available on a free transfer, but we know what sort of quality they can provide, dont we?

Why do you need to have a detailed knowledge of the recruitment process to know that we in the main we recruited badly in the summer? It’s plainly obvious that we have an unbalanced squad lacking technically, mentally and physically.
I see you don't get it either. You can't just go to a player and say you're coming to my club, there are loads of reasons why he doesn't want to. I'm not going to list them all as some of them are fairly obvious. So for someone to say we recruited badly, unless he is Joe Hutchinson, he has no idea who we tried to sign, the reasons they didn't sign for us, and also players who turned us down. I've said it before, but I will say it again. It's not like going into a shop and seeing something you want to buy, take it off the shelf, pay for it and it's yours. There are numerous reasons players won't sign for us. You don't need detailed knowledge of how the recruitment process works at all, most of it is common sense. |

We cannot shift any of this deadwood out and Stockwood has said he is not willing to put any money in.
We are right in a relegation dog fight
Well they will have to find ££££ in the summer to make up for the shortfall in ST sales , we won't shift no way near 5k+ again and will be back to hoping for on field glory to boost numbers . Feel for us fans as it's seeming like promotion and the cup run is just yet another false dawn . |

I’m very concerned about our league status Stockwood is losing interest we have a team of national league players with no fight a new manager who seems incapable of changing the last two dire games.

Am I have a moment. Having made the journey and what he’s what can only be described as awful desire mixed with incapable footballers, is it fair to suggest we had a better and more skilful team in national league? I just feel we have gone backwards and this group of players are out of their depth in this league. I am going to games in hope rather than expectation. DA has quite a job on his hands. I would be happy with survival and get rid of the plethora of dross we have putting the shirt on. At least there is room for someone, anyone, to show some desire passion and energy to impress the new coach.

Would have liked to see Rose and McAtee in the same team…. There’s two more years on the leg clock of Gav and Luke and we don’t have Smith, some of what we got in is not a step up in quality. Conteh and Danny certainly are. Pyke and Gnahoua are looking better, but Harry has gone backwards. |

We weren’t far better, more resilient, more dog in us, especially the Cup, but a lot league games not much difference, but whilst we’ve gone somewhat backwards the standard of League 2 overall looks higher than last season. The likes of Bradford, challengers last season, are mid-table, big spenders Gillingham similar, Stockport, Mansfield and Barrow have kicked on, Notts and Hollywood big budgets have joined with Wimbledon and Crewe much improved. The relegated sides save the veggies are decent and relegation favourites Crawley have surprised a few teams. What concerns is that the budget isn’t going to be there to keep pace and last summer was a bit of a one shot opportunity and we’ve blown it. The only cause for optimism at the moment is the performance of the youth and the hope a few will break through into the first team squad next season. |

Well what bunch of excrement house stewards from Mansfield one particular the supervisor far passed my expectations. Been to every away this season Convienced the family to drive from London to the game 7am start .Got there waited for them to open .They had a dog at gate jumping sniffing doing his job . Stopped us said he is jumping all over us not coming in We said please search us get the police to search .Then the dog did same to two men but he searched them let them in .Same steward supervisor turned around to the drummer who said he had permission from club to play to remove yourself in 5min or we will have him arrested. My son said Dad you know what I will stick with watching Arsenal less grief with London Derby. But he did make me laugh when he said looked like mariners didn't come out in 2nd half in sympathy us not getting in the ground .Please sort these stewards out .I've written to the club.Funny no family member wants to come with me to Salford .Draw my line under it after that nearly 60 years watching.the mariners can not be arsed with the treatment anymore .All the best
