Wilson and Pyke injured then

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

That's a big blow against the form team.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

That is a blow having those two injured and not really having a forward on the bench.

We are much better at the overlap recently. Our passing is much faster, much crisper. Without Pyke or Wilson will we be able to capitalise?

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

That's not even close to mud if you followed Town in the 70's.

We score a second before half time and JT is banging on about how we have "tired legs" and no attacking options on the bench. Are these commentators ever happy? Always negative even when we are winning.

Town deserve to be 2 up at halftime with 2 superb goals. Even in these conditions, they have played some good football and now look like a team in the ascendance.

Tired legs maybe, but it's the same for both sides. 2nd half subs will be interesting to see.

Used to think that. Now I’m convinced it’s typical town optimism - things usually do go wrong for us so understandable 😂

Excellent 1st half, the team full of energy,  full of running, good passing, severalnplayers look like they have been plugged into the mains to recharge.

Glennon is back to form and a real threat, and Arthur G is proving to be a really strong forward link.

The confidence seems to be oozing from front to back, which has been missing. Simple clearances with minimum risk on this pitch is needed, but it proves there are players who have skill and ability.

A good watch thus far, and more next half, please !!

Is there a Crewe commentary I could listen to, or is that only available when we are playing away?

Tell you what, I'm quick to bash Town when they have been awful but don't think I've ever seen us move it like we have in that first half since following us. I'm not jumping to conclusions and thinking that Artell will have us on promotion form by the end of the window but they look enjoyable to watch again. Hunt and Glennon look like they are totally different players now they've had the shackles released.

Can't wait for this 2nd half.

We score a second before half time and JT is banging on about how we have "tired legs" and no attacking options on the bench. Are these commentators ever happy? Always negative even when we are winning.

no attacking options? Didn't realise Khan and ainley were defensive players!

Response from every player who gave their all today on a rubbish pitch.

Hunt and Conteh now have set their positions correctly, and their confidence together is very pleasing.

Stay fit, Mr Glennon, you're back !

Whoever was MOM in anyone's opinion doesn't matter as the TEAM showed what they are capable of producing !

More, please !!

You can't overestimate the significance of this display and the result.

Crewe would have gone second today had they beaten us.

To see the game out despite their late goal is something we have just not been able to do this season. Let's face it, a few weeks ago you would have bet your bottom dollar that we would concede gain,

If we can beat Crewe we have a chance against any team in this division.  I think we will really start climb the table now. Plenty of teams just a hand full of points above us.

Next week is huge. If we beat Newport we go above them.

Fabulous effort from the team, the manager and the ground staff today. Well done everyone.

Same players but a whole different ethos, performance and approach. I'm convinced we have a good squad and I'm sure DA can get a lot more out of them. It seems like PH could pick a player but didn't know how to get the best out of them - DA does. Onwards and upwards TMM !

Yes, and to win without Pyke and Wilson in the squad is even more amazing.  With those two and Khori and Vernam fit we would certainly have plenty of options for a very strong bench and DA seems the kind of manager who would know how to use them properly.

PH just ran out of steam . It happens in football. Players stopped responding to what he was saying and we became easy to beat . The new man has reinvigorated a decent bunch of players. PH will probably do the same wherever he ends up next .

Wonderful result, which wouldn't have been possible just a handful of weeks ago.

Particularly enjoyed the football played in the 1st half and the hardwork and effort on display in the 2nd.

Very poor home attendance though. I had predicted 6500 or more today.

A couple of ways of looking at that - in as many as 55 years we would not have got over 5,000 at home to Crewe sitting 4th from bottom of the 4th division in December. But the converse is attendances generally are the highest they've been since the mid 60s, especially at our level and we have more season ticket holders than the attendance which is disappointing. We should be aware in making comparisons though that some other clubs are declaring tickets sold rathe than number in the ground, Doncaster and Mansfield certainly do, I think Tranmere may do, perhaps Swindon as well.

100%. My dad has a season ticket but I have to bring him too/from the match. The uncertainty meant I couldn’t do this today so he missed it. One of many I’m sure.

It's an odd one as tickets sold must have been higher due to season tickets but actual crowd was less.
Saying that I don't like the fake attendances so I can't complain haha.

I was quite surprised at the number tbh as seemed quite full but there we go.
Definitely feels like later in the season, or more likely next season, we will be selling out. Positivity is growing very quickly. It is great.

Think part of the problem for lower attendance was uncertainty from 10 am the game would be played .That put the long haul travellers off .Then the announcements of further pitch inspections put the people travelling less than 100 miles and locals who decided to do something else rather than waste the day waiting until 1 pm for it to be on .Magnificent job from the ground staff and well done the ref for giving it every chance

It’s interesting how people can watch the same game and polar opposite feedback, I thought Conteh was outstanding, best player in the pitch for me! He had that skill that all great players have in that they always seem to have time on the ball!

He won’t see out his 3 year deal with us I don’t think!
