One of my abiding memories was being at Wembley when Gazza scored THAT goal v Scotland. Will never forget that.

RIP and thanks for the memories Tel.

THAT genius goal and the subsequent celebrations with Gazza lain behind with Sheringham mimicking the dentist's chair..... no words

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

Managed the England team that produced the best performance in my lifetime against the Dutch.

Rip El Tel, thanks for the memories.

I was lucky enough to be at that game, it was tremendous.  With a bit of luck in the semi we would have won Euro 96. Since 1966 we just don’t seem to get the rub of the green in the big matches.

That summer in 96 was my favourite tournament (in my lifetime),as a young teen ,  the country just seemed to go mental and everyone was happy, seems a far cry from the world we live in today .

I was gutted  we lost to the Germans as I thought we had the tournament to win .

El Tel was a good manager and seemed a good guy

Mate of mine played for Derby alongside David Swindelhurst who’d played for Terry at QPR apparently as well as being a great coach and a really nice person he was well “connected” to quite a few East End geezers and could genuinely lay his hands on anything the players wanted and do a deal for the lads.
